looking for an mp3 player, and am not sure where to start looking.
are these even around anymore? i know there was a fad for mp3 players at one pt., but i haven't seen/read/heard much about them in a while.

i am looking for one as small as possible. to be used when running. if it can hold up to 30-50 mp3s, that's good enough for me. and i'm trying to keep the cost down to less than $100.

oh, forgot to add that i need good quality headphones to go with that as well

something that will stay snug around my head when running, and which does not compromise the sound quality

I just bought the RioSport S35S from newegg for my wife this week. It's a bit more than you want to spend, but there are a few other models on this page . The S30S is ~125 and good for 2hours of music, but you can upgrade the memory. This is the extent of my knowledge on the subject. The one we just got is pretty slick. It's very small, easy to use and holds 4 hours of music.

Luck!

its going to be tough to find a mp3 player that holds as much as you want for under 100 bucks. a good one is the the creative nomad muvo, though the 128mb flavor is about ~160. holds about 30-40 songs, and is very simple and straightforward. it doesnt have an lcd screen though, which will again drive up costs.

also, as CChaos said, the rio's are pretty good as well.

I think Rio mp3 players are pretty cheap. I think a good place to get a deal on these would be ebay. I know creative and ipod's are good, but expensive.
