Local or nationwide? The nationwide plan with the largest included area (area not subject to roaming charges) for the monthly rate is probably Verizon's America's choice.

The current promo for AC includes 4000 night and weekend minutes.

$35 only gets you 300 weekday minutes (more minutes = more money), but the overall national footprint is awesome if you need it. Verizon is supposed to be pretty good in NJ, no?

Sprint has a decent deal. Check the Hot Deals forums.

Ex: Buy a phone @ best buy, get 50% off from buying 2 accessories, - $70 rebate - $10 from activating online - $10 referral..

First I would find who the best cell phone carrier in your area is.

What good is a cheap AT&T cell phone plan if they suck, dropped calls, billing errors, weak signals, etc.?

Off the top of my head VoiceStream and Verizon seem to have the best deals out there.
