You don't need plans, you check what the recommended volume is and go from there. A little math is all it takes. Each speaker usually has a different recommended volume to use.

You take a little MDF and make a box, and cut a circle in it, and toss a little carpet on it. Done.

Or if you're REALLY lazy, you could build one out of fiberglass.

depending on the type of box, and given that this is for a truck, you'll probably want to use a sealed box, so add the silicone caulk to make sure that it's airtight

either way, all you need is a table saw (or some handheld saw but you'll need some sort of a fence and square to make sure your cuts are square), you'll also need a jig saw and drill... sanders make things nicer, but you won't need it if you're good with the jig saw.

i'm remembering high school woodshop, damn near all i made was speaker boxes

I know how and have the tools, just don't really want to put the time in. Want instant gratification.

You can make the cuts for the wood in under 30 minutes. The majority of the time is waiting for the glue to dry (I do suggest you glue the pieces together).

If you use silicone caulk to seal the interior joints, don't let it cure with the driver installed. Caulk the seams wait for it to cure first before installing the driver.

Internal bracing is nice, but a little over the top for your first box.

an alternative to the silicone caulk is construction adhesive, like liquid nails... i've used that before, first to hold the boards together, then i'll run it along all the seams/joints inside the box to make sure everything's sealed up... but you've gotta make sure that the glue is well dry because the fumes will eat away the rubber surround of the speaker (bad)

to compare the cost, most places charge at least 50 bux for a sub box, and at my local lowes, they carry MDF for like 17 bucks for a 4'x8' sheet, get a tube of liquid nails, some drywall screws if you don't already have them, order some carpet and a terminal cup from parts express and you've got yourself a sub box for well under 30 bucks

Forget these people, yeah building speaker boxes is easy but some of us do not have the time.

Anyhow, I just bought a sub box from ebay.
THIS GUY
You can get 10' boxes for $7+25 shipping
And you can get 12' boxes for $8+25 shipping.

Those are the best prices shipped anywhere on the net.
The box is fine to me.

i got a sub box off ebay and it was pretty decent....just make sure you buy a good 3/4" MDF and not one of those cheapy 1/2" ones.
The box i got was well made and was of pretty good quality and like posted above was amazingly cheap for the price of shipping.
