My best friends birthday is tomorrow. I want to give her something from the heart. I have writers block and I can't seem to write a letter or poem that would really touch her.

Anyone have any advice on poems, short stories or antyhing?

don't force, it is a nice idea but I've found if I force a poem it sucks, if I get inspired and write it turns out well.

here is an example of an inspired poem that I wrote poem

Shakespear's sonnets or anything by John Donne (kinda syrupy) might be a good place to look for inspiration.

what exactly do you want to say to her? I have a whole bunch of poems here but I don't know what kind of message you want to send.
 
It's really a limerick, but I still remember it from first grade (yeah, right, last year).



A peanut sat on a railroad track,
it's heart was all aflutter.
The five fifteen came rushing by.
Toot! Toot! Peanut butter...

Perhaps something like this?


Thy skin rivaling the enchanting light of the moon.
Eyes like pools of eternal darkness,
Reflecting neither moon nor sun
A stream of darkness graces thy slender figure,
Softer than silk at the touch.
Gracious is thy gait, as though floating on the air.

A true Queen of the Night art thou,
All other women thy servants, subject to thy will.
At thine arrival, conversations hush, children stop their play
And all eyes of men turn towards thee,
To turn away, blinded by thy flawless beauty.
As brilliant as the sun, yet dark like the deepest lake.

My search had come to an end at last
n' you were to be my guiding light in this ocean vast
With you I'll navigate the oceans of my life
With you darling as my beloved, my life

I'm yours - now and forever - as you are mine
In you I find my life's joys and pleasures divine

As I celebrate the birth of my love this day
In infinitely more ways than words can say
I wish you the very best in life
May GOD protect you from any sadness and every strife
May HE bless you with more than words can ask
n' may in the golden sunshine of success you, forever bask.

You sap get a life. If you spend 1/4 the energy treating her like that than writing that garbage you'll be better off (and you wouldn't need to write that fluff!) 😉
