What should I have on hand for snacks?

CNN

(CNN) ? Oprah Winfrey is ecstatic over Barack Obama?s apparent victory in this year?s Democratic presidential race.

"I'm euphoric, I've been doing the happy dance all day,? she said in a statement released Wednesday I'm so proud of Barack and Michelle and what this means for all of us, the new possibilities for our country.?

The talk show host, who campaigned for Obama in several key early primary states, added: ?And if he wants me to, I'm ready to go door to door."

Rad. Anyone who says she doesn't have MAJOR influence over a large female audience is ignorant or delusional. Another 800 lb gorilla in Obama's corner.

Maybe with books, but in politics, she's an organizing tool and that's it.

Though I doubt the Obama campaign minded the tens of thousands of potential supporters in IA, SC, and NV, they were able to contact through the Oprah rallies.

I wasnt aware that the "large female" vote was going to be swinging the election ;)

What about the normal ones?

Going political like this was a big mistake for Oprah.

Her ratings are down like 7% this year. Seems that people love to 'chat' with Oprah, but when she starts telling them who to vote with they don't like it.
Also, don't forget that her audience is full of middle class stay home moms, a core Republican constituency.

While I agree going political may have a negative effect on her ratings, you are making an assumption (and an incorrect one IMO) that Oprah would rather have higher ratings than help elect the first black president. She's worth billions, I don't think she's worried about her income and after the election she'll revert back to interviewing the downtrodden. The viewers will likely return, but if they don't I think she'd consider it a worthy trade off.

I can't help but notice that non Prof John has got a new signature and has outdone even himself.

There is it folks, see it above---"PJ is always right!"

You funny man, I have always regarded you as a very good negative barometer, what ever you say is always wrong. Don't make me cite your predictions on the elections of 11/06. I could go on but you are truly a legend in your own mind.

As me for I don't watch Oprah and occasionally listen to Limbaugh when I feel self masochistic, but I think Oprah support will net Obama quite a few votes from those middle class stay at home Moms. Oprah has credability and Limbaugh does not.

Well well well Corbett, I did not join Anand tech until 11/6/2005, and hence, I made no right or wrong prediction regarding 2004. But then again, I see you have a similar track record regarding 2004. And PJ is the jonney come lately who joined in 2006 with the first and the most wrong predictions.

In one sense, GWB has been a very good educator because he has taught the American people not to trust the GOP. But there are always the very few clueless braindeads who can't even learn that lesson.

Oprah is declining and is slowly but surely making her way to the "fruitcake" list.

That's what is so great - she can help them see the error in their ways - although most vote that way because of their husbands.

Wow, so you're saying the women are brainwashed by their husbands and don't vote on how they feel, yet watching Oprah and her chanting vote for Obama isn't the same thing?

Well hopefully for some of us, if Obama does get elected we can then get preferential treatment and special grants to go to school for being white.

Not guessing nor are all like this. I've seen it too many times though. When election day rolls around, the wife asks who she should vote for - or is told. Many just do it to "keep the peace".

:D Symmetrical irony? Finally I'll get something just for being a white boy...

Riiiight. Pretty easy to ask for those benefits without having to endure the past and present reasons for that 'preferential treatment'.

I will never forgive Oprah for having GWB and his wife Laura on her show. She allowed George to appear with his wife, humanizing him, and allowed George to appear without being asked any tough questions. Oprah made it OK for clueless housewives to vote for the idiot Bush.

I will never listen to another word from Oprah after that stunt.

And anyone that relies on celebrity endorsements to make their voting decisons needs to grow a brain.

Take my wife, someone, anyone take my wife, when I told her I was a voting for Obama in the primaries she still voted for Hillary. But at least she has the damn brains to vote for Obama now that Hillary has lost. I don't presume to tell my wife how to vote, but once she makes up her mind she makes up her mind. I may be a male chauvinist pig, but my wife thinks for herself and I am damn proud of her for it. And if I told her to vote for somebody or else, she would vote for or else and I would be clueless of how she voted anyway. Maybe some females will submit to male domination, but please don't count my wife among them.

I think her rating go up and down... like a cycle... not that I wanna be in an oprah coma... I don't even watch that crap...

Almost as bad as watching Rachel ray on food network (Barf)....

Talks too much...

I watch oprah every once in while. She is a master showwoman. Minutely aware of what's going on and how it's being received. She has her audience trained like pavlov's dog. It's stunning how they react when the free stuff is announced.

rachel's broadcast network show (not tfn) is good for a change from the other cooks - seems down to earth. Her food is simple and directed to those without the wherewithal to make the elaborate/complicated meals. There seems to be a market...

But a steady diet of either would be torture.
