I knew this was coming.

One of their problems is that the lease many of their buildings that they operate out of. They do actually pay many of their employees a very nice wage, much more than walmart.

Another problem is that the stores look like they are stuck in the 80's with the stores not being updated and the store is just dirty.

I can contest that, I worked there for several years and made dick.

It's a shame for their employees that they have to close. But, Kmart has been badly run for decades. Walmart has better prices and service, even though I don't think they are great I would rather shop there than Kmart. Target is a nice store with good service, but they are more expensive than the two *marts. It just goes to show you get what you pay for. I think he was referring to your choice of words. I also find them particularly pitiful and inept. But that's just my opinion :D

bmacd still has a job :) :) However, they're closing the store of the manager who hired me (Auburn Hills Super K). We found out last week whether or not our store was going to close, but we were sworn to secrecy.

I have never purchased anything from a Blue Light special and now I will probably never have the chance to do so. Life just passed me by.....

Damn, we just upgraded the servers in every Kmart coast to coast a little over a year ago. All those sleepless nights for nothing. NOT! I got mine.

Wow. Gone. That's kind of amazing. They *just* upgraded to a Super-K like a couple years ago??? Maybe just 1.x years ago. In fact, I think they just pulled out of Alaska. They're closing in Juneau, Kenai, and two stores in Anchorage as well. That's probably all of them, unless there were three in Anchorage (pop. 350,000±).

Mixed feelings here. I hate the overcrowded aisles, the feeling that I went shopping in a ghetto and the messiness. But I love their low priced shoes, and occasional sale priced furniture.

I even bought my wife's handgun there. Now that I think of it, I bought my sporterized AK-47 there too! I boycotted them for a while after the Columbine shootings when they yanked their gun sales. I felt like they were blaming me, as a former K-mart gun buyer, for the murders.

But their shoe prices brought me back.
