Klipsch vs. Logitech

I bet questions like these come up all the time and they get pretty annoying, so I'm sorry in advance. Basically, I'm in the market for a good 2.1 computer speaker set. I'm not looking for anything mind-blowing (I don't plan on listening to them at full volume anyway), I just need the best, fullest sound I can get for about 200 dollars.

I've narrowed it down myself to two different models from Logitech and Klipsch. It's a toss-up between Klipsch's Promedias or Logitech's z-2300s. From what I've gathered based on my own research, it seems that the Promedias have a fuller sound than the z-2300s while the z-2300s overall have better low output.

I'm not an audiophile by any means, so I only barely know what I'm talking about. haha

Any help you guys can give me is really appreciated.

Klipsch has been making speakers for decades before Logitech was born. Paul W. Klipsch founded the company in 1946. Kilpsch has been a highly regarded name in audio circles since then.

Logitech is the king of mice. They got into the computer speaker business in 2001 when they bought Labtec - famous for cheap PC speakers.

For speaker quality, go Klipsch.

The Klipsch's will sound better, but you're almost guaranteed to be the last owner of them if you don't send them out to get repaired - they will fail, maybe in a month, maybe in 4 years.

I will never buy another Klipsch product again after my Promedia Ultra 5.1 sub failed last year. To remedy the problem I went to best buy and bought a 10" sony sub for like $65 and spent a few hundred on a nice receiver (this I plan to use in my home theater room in the future) and am still using the 5 surround sound klipsch speakers. I'm quite pleased with my current setup.

So what I gather is that the Klipsch speakers are gonna sound better but won't last as long. =P

the z2300 is a weak offering compared to the previous 2.1 set.

my trusty z-560 4.1 400w system finally died on me tonight.

im honestly looking into ht speaker alternatives now. im done with crappy pc speakers. my good friend had the promedia 4.1's and the sub/amp died on him too. i had the initial z560 set fail within a week of receiving it, newegg promptly sent me a replacement overnighted. worked great since.

i think that what logitech and klipsch have at the top tier slot just is not good enough or pale in comparison of what they used to make back in the day.

 Sounds like a good idea to me, although tbh I have seen my share of dead receivers too :x (perhaps more brand/model constrained though). The problem (imo) is the adoption of technologies/techniques that often aren't properly (at least not well enough for reliability) implemented (i.e. SMPS or class D amplifiers).

i prefer woofer+tweeter designs.
but as said, if you want better, get bookshelves/real speakers+amp/reciever/sub. much more versatile and upgradable..bit by bit.

I swear, last time I cared about these posts (about a year ago), it was always 50/50 between z2300s and Promedia 2.1s. Either that, or Klipsch had better front speakers and Logitech had better surrounds? Either way, I don't think there was too big a difference between the two sets.

Klipsch... Logitechs are just mediocre, and their subs are really boomy, that's it.

Insert obligatory listen to them and decide for yourself [if you can].

The Logitechs definitely have a pretty specific sound. I'm not really sure how to describe it - everything is there, just the bass is ramped up quite a bit. If you like that powerful bass sound then they're a pretty nice set to have.
The Klipsch set is pretty nice - they do seem to have reliability issues, but the logitechs have issues themselves too.

To be honest the deciding factor I think for a lot of people ends up being something not related to sound directly - like price or availability/ease of purchase. I don't know anyone deciding between these two sets who regretted buying the one they did.
