This is my first hotdeal post so I hope it's a good one:

At Office Depot B&M they have this deal:

"Well my roomate and I just made a visit to Office Depot.
They have a deal running that will probobly only last for a week but anyhow...

You get the ProMedia's for $250 with a $150 rebate!!

According to our salesman Chris, this deal will only last a week or so so go get um!!!!

(this taken from Hardocp forum)Link

I read thru the entire post and it seems that if you actually go to the store that you should be able to get them with the $150 rebate without having to buy anything Compaq.

Better hurry, doubt it will last long.

Good Luck!

excellent first post! I'd definitely say this is hot, if it is true. I've been looking to get some new speakers. But the klipsch were always out of my price range, until now. Will check OD B&M tomorrow. Thanks

The $150 Rebate promotion is only valid on the 'Built for You' Presario 7000 series desktop PC purchased from the Compaq Online Store or from a 'Built for You' kiosk located at a participating retailer. The rebate is not valid with the Klipsch v2 100 speaker system. Customers must choose the Klipsch ProMediaTM v.2-400TM(THX cert.) component from the "Speakers" drop down box on the configuration page to be eligible for the rebate.
The $150 Rebate coupon will ship with each Presario 7000 purchased between January 7, 2001 and February 17, 2001. The speakers will ship separately from the PC. Requests must be postmarked by March 17, 2001.

This sounds great. Now if I could just find a track ball mouse.
Or I should say sounded too good.

Ouch-

That's at the Compaq site like it was mentioned in the Hardforum post. It only works at the B&M Store.

I'm not gonna guarantee that you will get them at the B&M, but I figured for a savings of $150 people might want to stop buy thier Office Depot and check.

It's worth it to me.

If you can get 150 mir then that's a super hot deal for this Klipsch, I would get it but since its only 4.1 channel not 5.1 and I already have Altec Lansing 4.1 looking hot deals on 5.1 still.

It looks like from browsing the Klipsch site, they are comming out with an updated version of these speakers. gonna be called v4.1. This is probably why Compaq is running this deal. Also, I do think you have to buy the speakers with the system to get the rebate. We would all know for sure if someone could find the actual rebate form.

I called Compaq and the salesperson said that the deal is only valid with system purchase. Wouldn't bank on getting the rebate check.

called Office Depot in my area today...guy said that you dont have to buy a comp. I asked if he was sure and he said yes. I dunno...you think you can hold that against him if you go to the store?

Even at $250, these are an awesome set of speakers! Highly recommend them! I have had mine for about 4 months, and cannot imagine a life without them.

This would be so sweet if it worked.

Someone let me know if they can successfully do it...but it seems you would have to buy a system also.

Does this really work?
It's kinda hassle if they don't send you the rebate $$ ....

yeah, the new ones will have new crossovers to fix the midragne (ie like the 2.1's) and have the new CP1 preamp, which fixes some static issues along w/ a headphone jack.

But for $300, that's pushing the line quite a bit IMO.

And the speakers are lower wattage and the sub has only one driver.

I am looking for some nice speakers for the computer i am building now, i might stop by OD today and talk to a manager, if he/she says i dont need to buy the computer system. i might get his/her name and buy the speakers. then if the rebate does not come through, i can go back and get OD to refund $150 to me. will let you guys know what happens.
