Oh they are. They are really made by Cambridge SoundWorks which makes home theater speakers. Creative bought Cambridge SoundWorks so they just rebrand the multimedia speakers to Creative. Home-theater speakers still carry the badgename Cambridge SoundWorks.

Actually, the satellites used in the MegaWorks and GigaWorks are the same ones used in their home theater systems. The speakers are from the Newton series. I believe the subwoofer is the same as well, only that the multimedia version has the amplifier built into it. My MegaWorks say Cambridge Soundworks THX on the satellites, subwoofer, and remote, but the remote also says "A Creative Company at the very bottom and the cables from the soundcard to the amp have Creative's logo on them.

You are right that MegaWorks and GigaWorks line of speakers are the exact speakers taken from the Newton line of Cambridge SoundWorks. The MegaWorks use the MC-50s 3.5" full range drivers. The GigaWorks satellites share a similar characteristics (3.5" midrange drivers) with the MC-100 except the tweeter where the GigaWorks satellites are made out of titanium metal dome while the MC-100s are silk tweeter dome.

The MegaWorks line do have the Cambridge SoundWorks badge but the GigaWorks model now has "Creative" badge on the grills. I have both model so I would know.

This is why you buy an infra-red remote control and program the buttons and commands into the software. This is what I do with my Creative Infra-red remote control (credit-card size) to control all my media players as well as windows command like turning on/off screen saver or monitor, loading programs, log off, restart, shut down, etc... I can also control the volume control with it by changing the sound card's volume. However, I heard that it is not good for the speakers when doing that because it constantly receive volume signal with different strength. It is better to have the volume of the source (ie. sound cards, mp3/cd players, line in...) be constant and change the volume of the speakers. This is why I've stopped using the sound card as the main volume control. Plus the remote control that comes with the GigaWorks isn't too bad. To me it is perfect.

Wow. I had no idea that this topic would stay alive!! It's awesome to hear all you people give your opinions. I'm very interested with RussianSensation's post about the Onkyo. But these speakers are not MM right? so you would need a sound card that supplies a coax/digital connection would you not? And how do they compare to these high end MM speakers?

Thanks.
