You can get the Promedia DD 5.1 directly from Klipsch for $100 (plus S&H) without having to buy the Promedia 5.1 speaker set.

degeester, go to the Promedia link at the top of the page. This brings up the Promedia speaker listing and one of the choices is the 5.1 speakers with the pre-amp for $499.

First of all the title is not misleading because the speaker set is called Promedia 5.1 while the Digital Decoder is called Promedia DD 5.1. If you don't know the difference you don't need this anyways.

Here is how you do it.

1. Go to www.klipsch.com
2. Click on SHOP at the top
3. Half way down on the new page click on PROMEDIA
4. On the new page at the bottom left click on 5.1 DIGITAL DREAM MULTIMEDIA SYSTEM (do not click on ADD TO CART)
5. On the new page click on ADD TO CART
6. In the "Coupon Number" space type in the coupon number from the previous page and click on RECALCULATE
7. Now click on the box next to "Promedia 5.1" so there is a check there and click REMOVE
8. Now the Promedia DD 5.1 is $100, click CHECKOUT and get the hell out of Dodge :D

Pssst...better get rid of the coupon number before the evil mod clan attacks... :(

Now that the secret is out, it is only a matter of time before Klipsch figures this out and changes things, so you better get your DD 5.1 NOW. I don't think previous Klipsch 5.1 owners should get shafted for being early purchasers of their product so we should get the DD 5.1 at a discounted rate anyways. Just MHO. :disgust:

i got in, though their website says orders will be charged immediately and shipped out later on the 16th due to inventory from 7/2 to 7/15? oh well, for a $70 discount off the regular price, i suppose i can wait for 2 weeks. wonder if they'll really honor this order or start cancelling them because we didn't purchase it as a bundle with the 5.1s.

RMilton, the Dd 5.1 has 6 RCA outputs to the speakers. L/R front, L/R rear, subwoofer, center channel. How do you connect your soundcard to your speakers?

This decodes Dolby Digital, DTS, and Dolby Pro Logic. I doubt you can get anything similar for under 30 dollars. Midiland makes a similar product for about $120, but lower quality materials.
