Heh, sorry Chu, but you'll love them. I have a set of the 400 v2 (previous version of the 4.1's) and they are fantastic. Paid $300 for them 3 years ago this winter. Sure wish they would have had refurbs when I got mine!
Also, as far as refurbs go, you can bet that they will be top notch coming from Klipsh. They don't mess around.

Are these significantly better than Z560s or Altec's 641 system? Why, and in what way?

Thanks!

I don't know who you're talking to, but they're wrong. The Z560s are nice speakers, but really can't compare to the Klipsch. I have a set of Klipsch Promedia 4.1s that I bought back in August, and I love them. This is a great deal for people that aren't bothered by refurb items.

i bought a set and i'm VERY pleased. but do keep in mind that these are refurb so there will be some blemishes. my blemish happens to be some nipped up wires. no biggie in my opinion, i just electric taped it up. other than that, this baby sounds better than my friends z560s!!!

My roommate has the 5.1's and is currently working on his second RMA....

Another friend bought a set of 5.1s and after the second RMA in 3 months got his money back.

If i personally got these I would only plan on them working for 90 days... but who knows.

Another friend bough the z560s becuase even if the klipsh might sound slightly better... it isn't worth the hassle.

My Klipsch have run beautifully for close to 3 years now. What exactly was going wrong with the ones that were RMA'd?

I have the Klipsch 4.1's at the store and the Z-540's at home. The 540's are very good - the Klipsch are outstanding. I'm grabbing a set for the house with this deal.

Thanks.

Received a set of 4.1 today. It produced a steady hiss without the speakers connected to the computer. Anyone have any idea on how to fix that? I am thinking of returning them. Damn! I need to pay for return shipping.

The Z560s are known for blowing very often and quickly, because Logitech pumps more power into the speakers than they're rated for. I've very rarely heard anything from anyone about Klipsch speakers blowing or having problems.

Make sure any power cords aren't close to the signal cables.
