Klipsch price fixing?

I'm looking to buy either the Klipch promedia 4.1 or 5.1. Without fail the 4.1 is $299 or $300, and the 5.1 is $399 or $400. Anyone seen different? Is this even legal? I thought there was a big stink about playstation price fixing their ps1's at 199 a while back. Anyway, if it is price fixing, whether or not its legal, it sucks 🙁 but ill buy em anyway.
 
That's Klipsch's MSRP...you can buy from places like Newegg ($400 for the 5.1s with free shipping and no tax if you're not in CA) but you won't have a warrenty.

I'm betting that Klipsch just doesn't sell their speakers low enough to vendors for people to sell them for anything lower than the MSRP.

Because Klipsch does not recognize them as an offical Klipsch dealer. You can go to their website to view any "authorized" dealers...I'm not sure if CompUSA or Best Buy will show up, but Amy (the Klipsch ProMedia representative) verified that CompUSA and Best Buy are both authorized to sell the ProMedia speakers.
 
MasterHoss, back in Feb. 2001 when Outpost.com was selling Klipsch, and the 2.1's were new, would you guess they were an authorized dealer? I ask because Klipsch (and particularly Amy Platt) were excellent in helping me solve a problem that wouldn't go away until we tried two satellites and a subwoofer. Great service - and for the price it should be <g>.
 
Jeff, yes, I believe Outpost was and still is an authorized Klipsch dealer...they actually sell HT Klipsch products as well...
 
This is not price fixing. Price fixing is when competing companies agree to artificially inflate the prices of competing products.
 
Have you checked out the Logitech z560's?

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned these-- 400W THX certified for apparently $135 at mwave.com. I got them from mwave for like 139 like 2 weeks ago. They are fantastic. They are in an entirely different league than most pc speakers.

Or did I commit a faux pas by mentioning these? Someone help--- I don't want to offend...
