Well, let us know what you think, junthin.

Evidently the ProMedia 4.1 is available and IN STOCK (but not for long now) at PlanetMiniDisc.com (search for Klipsch) for $299 including ground shipping and $10 more for 3 day.

apoppin another Klipsch fan I see. I love my Heresys, La Scalas and Kornwalls. They make up my make-shift HEC.

I guess you can't please everyone . . . PlantetMiniDisc has already been posted as having the 4.1's in stock.

This thread and the research and time I have put into this has got me so frustrated I am just going to wait on my speaker purchase . . . I really don't see this as a "hot deal" anymore - paying list-price for Klipsch speakers so I can be the first on my block to have them.

After that useless answer from Klipsch ("the 4.2 . . . is a much better system, especially for the price . . .&quot😉, I just gave up. UNLESS someone can direct me to a coupon for PlanetMiniDisc . . . 😀

Man Look like you guy all favor for Klipsch. My CF1 floor standing play with Nakamichi PA7 to make a nightearthquake whole neighbor. Wonderful spkers that why I did not cancel mine. Just want to see how it rock on my computer system 😉

If you don't want to wait, get the v.2-400 from Best Buy and upgrade the pod.. isn't that the only difference?.. That's what I did, though, I don't know if they're backordered on that 49.99 piece..

Well here is what klipsch told me in a reply to my email to them.

The biggest difference between the 4.1 and the 4.2 is the two separate subs, which tends to make it a little more complicated to use, but more flexible.

Sound-wise they are very similar. You will likely only hear a difference at very high levels. You'll get a little less output from the satellites, and a little more from the subs in a 4.2 configuration..

The specs for the 4.2 are double of the specs for the 2.1.

Thank you,

So assuming she was not lying to sell the system, which I doubt that, it looks like everyone(apoppin) was right when they said that you would only notice an accoustic differance at very high volumes. My next question is what would I notice at high volumes, what sort of sonice differance, did they mean decibal level, or sound quality? The 2.1's have the same crossoever as the 4.1's to provide the better midrange, correct?

There would be very little *AUDIBLE* difference in these two systems. If anything, the 4.1's might sound a little cleaner at higher volumes due to the extra wattage but as far as loudness- forget it! Doubling the wattage only gives 2-3 db increase in SPL.

What is SPL anyway, so this 4.2 setup is not really a bad deal even if it is just klipsch trying to get rid of there overstock?

SPL is Sound Pressure Level.

Hmm...this is still a pretty good deal after the new info but I am having second thoughts. If I don't get a tracking number by tommorrow, I will probably cancel the order.

why does everyone keep say that klipsch is trying to get rid of their overstock?

the only reason klipsch is offering this deal is because they are out of stock on the 4.1's. once the 4.1's come back in stock, the 4.2's are going back to being $399.99.

The reason that the overstock THEORY is going around is cuase it seems like Klipsch is doing a lot to sell these 2.1 systems. Which is making people think they have to many. This deal alone does not make that true, but combined with the fact that they have there 2.1 systems on sale for 20.00 dollars off anyway, makes you wonder.

what do you mean doing a lot to sell these systems? i think all companies want to sell their product.

from klipsch...

We're offering the 4.2 at a reduced price temporarily, only because of the shortage of 4.1s. We wanted to give customers that option instead of having to wait until we're restocked. If we take a loss in profit, it's worth it to us.

I agree with yo2tup. The idea floating around that Klipsch is trying to unload a massive amount of the 2.1 systems because they can't sell them is crazy. And even if so, that doesn't mean the speakers are bad. Klipsch is very loyal to their customers and their would-be customers and they are simply offering an alternative until the 4.1's become more readily available. Why is there being so much read into this? Check the reviews, you can't go wrong either way.

Flashram99, no one is saying this is a bad deal. All were saying is that a lot of people don't want to pay that much for a 2.1 setup, klipsch realized this so they took 20.00 bucks off the price. Since the 4.1's are backordered they realized that they could provide a good deal to there customers and sell some of there 2.1 setups at the same time. I really don't think this is a bad deal. Now that I found out there is only a slight differance between the 2.1's and the 4.1's(and thats only at high volumes) I decided I might go for this deal. It is a decent deal.

Just to get a confirmation, THIS 4.2 deal includes the "improved" satellites with the better midrange over the "original" ProMedias? I understand the power is less per satellite over the 4.1 but you get the second subwoofer.

It's amazing how many times the same thing is getting re-hashed through this thread--nobody wants to read, just ask questions.

<< It's amazing how many times the same thing is getting re-hashed through this thread--nobody wants to read, just ask questions. >>

If this is directed at me, let me tell you I have been reading this thread SEVERAL TIMES and I am keeping updated with it. If people would quit whining about other posters and just answer questions maybe I wouldn't have to wade through so many posts trying to sort out an answer. In a long thread like this there is bound to be conflicting info so what am I supposed to believe. I just asked the question again in hopes for someone to post a useful respose. Obviously, you haven't.

UPDATE: Got a tracking number. I placed my order on Saturday afternoon and the tracking number was generated on Tuesday. This is within 24-48 business day hours after the order so I am pleased that so far, the service is good. Fedex says my order should arrive on Friday. Unfortunately, I won't be able to demo these until April when I get home. I am currently working on the road for a month. 🙁

Don't forget, General Hardware is also discussing this. There is a new current thread there from denon who has both that says don't bother with the 4.2 - the 4.1 is a nicer system.

And now for the kicker...Rumors have it that the Klipsch 5.1's are due out in Spring-Summer Season 🙂
Price Unknown

Where did you hear this rumour? $heet wow this is gonna kick so much ass. But when the 5.1 systems comes out I bet there's gonna be flaws on that one too, so I think I'd wait for the revamped 5.1 =) hahh I will be waiting for ever
