Klipsch 4.1 or Logitech z560 ?

I listened to both in stores.. and each time they sound different. so.. what are you guys opinions? on my latest visit the klipsch's won.

how much money do you want to spend and which did you think sounded better?
although I have neither, I would go with the logitecs because if i'm playing music to sound good ill burn it to a CD and play it on my stereo(which is in a completely different league than the kiplisch or the logitec)

well price isnt really a consideration here.
and as I said before, one has sounded better than the other on different occasions.. so its hard to tell which is the better system.

the klipsch are generally more clear than the logitech, but the logitech is louder. I have a z560 and the base is a bit muddied.

yes thats how I thought they were. I'll be in a small dorm room by myself.. so loudness isnt really a factor as both get plenty loud for my tastes. I thought that the klipsch's offered cleaner and richer sound at my last visit, but I need to go test them out with my own music.

Did you read my post? I've listened to all three and I've spoken to someone else who got rid of his PM4.1s for the BA7800s. The BAs are also cheaper. There is a clear winner here.

I see a lot more "I blew my Z560's fuse" than "I blew my Klipsch" threads. 🙂

<< only problem being I havent heard the BA's.. and I havnet seen them at my compusa or bestbuy.. >>

Do you have a Gateway Country Store nearby? You can listen to them there.

I have the Logitechs, but if I had the money I would choose the Klipsch over them. I really wish I would have bought the Altec Lansing 641's though. I think I would pick them over the Klipsch even. You should give them a look and a listen.

I cant compare them side by side, however
are the 641's the one with the giant sub? I listened to them too and didnt think they were as crisp as the klipschs

Here's a review of the Altec Lansings. You may also want to look at the MegaWorks 510D speakers if you have the money. They seem to be in the mid to high $200 range.

I was recently in your situation and I bought the Altec 641's. The Klipsch were way too screechy (you say "crisp" but after listening for an hour or so you'll say screechy, too) for my tastes (and much too expensive for what you get), the 560's were way too muddy and cheap looking, and the BA's were also too expensive for their performance compared to the 641's.

I vote the Klipsch all the way
Ive had a P4.1 system for quite some time for my PC and they always sound great and have never(not once) given me a problem.. contrast that with the gamble of the z560's (check Sharky forums for how many problems people have- endless) and the winner is clear if $$ isn't a concern.

if price isn't a consideration go for some of the videologic line. i have the videologic digitheatre dts and it sounds great, better than the klipsch 4.1 that my roommate has (cleaner sound, better upper bass, very present midrange). i've also read reviews stating that the videologic sirocco crossfires are the best 4.1 speakers out there currently.

quote from anandtech review:

"Some of you are probably going to wonder if these are better than the Klipsch. Based on the tests performed on the Crossfires, the answer is "yes". The sound quality is definitely more crisp. Even when the amplifier was turned all the way up, there was barely any distortion, and barely any background hiss either - something some of the Klipsch ProMedias tend to have. All in all, you can't go wrong with these speakers."

There's been a number of threads lately about people blowing their Logitech speakers. Now i know you can blow any speaker in the world if you try hard enough (dump enough) but it seems to be a rather high number of people who this is happening to.

My vote would be the Klipsch, they're tried, tested, and true.

I have both. If you can afford it get the Klipsch. If your on a budget get the Logitechs. They both sound great, but my Logitech setup has had some quality control issues.

I am also in the decision making mode on this. I was really leaning toward the Z560. Because I am on a budget and dont want to go over about $150 for speakers. After the "fuse" and other issues w/ the 560's I have been hearing I am considering going with the Altec Lansing 4100. What are some thoughts to compare these? Altec 4100 or Z560? thanks all.

I'd have to say Logitech. The warranty on the Klipsch is too short (one year) and they won't help you at all after that.
