Klipsch 2.1 or 4.1 for mostly music listening?

I'm trying to decide wether or not to get a 2.1 or 4.1 system to replace my aiwa desktop stereo connected to my pc. I listen to a lot of music, mp3s, cds and stuff, so I don't really need the 4.1 setup, but I also play games occasionally. So my concern is, is the 4.1 system worth the extra $100 for mostly music listening? I mean, music should really be listened in stereo anyways right? since they're not encoded to be sourroud in the first place. Also another concern is the resale value of the 2.1 versus the 4.1 The 4.1 has held its value VERY WELL. People are still selling it for at least 250 used, I can't believe it. THere are a lot less people selling the 2.1, so I'm not quite sure how well it will hold up. Give me some feedback on which one I should buy. Thanks!

i have the 4:1 system and i love it. Its great for dvd's, music, and especially games. the extra 2 speakers really add a lot to the quality of the sound. If you can afford the extra 100 bones, then i say go for it.

I have the 4.1s. They sound very good with music. You can always mute the rears if you don't want "surround" with your tunes.

The 4.1's have held their value well (as you said) so I'd spend the extra money as kind of insurance for resale time. I honestly don't see myself ever selling mine...at least until I get old(er) and out of this gaming at 105 decibels fetish! That'll be awhile though.

4.1's all the way.

Go with the 4.1's.

If you dont want surround type sound, take the satelites and point them backwards and away from you towards a wall. Then turn the surrounds down, and then back up. you will be amazed at how the area of the soundstage doubles or even triples in size, yet they retain their imaging ability if they are positioned correctly. This is somthing really cool that you can do with the 4.1's. The sound seems to come from everywhere but dosnt get muddled at all.

Yes. I have the 4.1's and they are real nice. BTW, the Klipsch 5.1 setup is now out and can be found here. A modest $400! Would be nice. 😀
