Meh, show me a single peer reviewd study link that suggests sleeping on a CRT gives you cancer? 😉

i just know the radiation emissions on crts are mostly out the back. they have to meet certain standards for the user though.

Can you train cats? I have always assumed you can because i never really see cats misbehaving, but I have always had a dog so i don't really know.

Im wondering if they respond to their names, or if you can get them to like sit, or obey commands?

...in the ghettoooo! 😀

hmmmm....cheaper cost, higher resoluton, 24 inch screen (HP A7217A) FTW!!! Some of us have all the space they want and more and aren't trendy consumer whores.....

I'm on a CRT myself. Although not for much longer cos it's going FUBAR 😕

You can, and they do respond to their names. Well, when they want to.

Cats can be trained but you have to find a reward they like. With dogs, it's easy because they like pretty much all food. Our cats have been picky with food and don't care for normal cat treats. Eventually they will respond to their name, which basically means looking toward you and if you're lucky, they'll casually stroll over to you.

I have Killer, our MaineCoontrained to jump down off the counter when I point down. It works 99% of the time. Good thing , too, because, he earned that name and I ain't making him get down if he don't want to.
Most of the cats here will come to a clicking sound I make.
My Cat, Ginger, The Amazing Talking Cat, will respond to several words. Hungry?, HappyKitty , Play?, Out?, GottagotoWork all get various responses. I've had her since she was just barely a year old and the key is consistency in words spoken and next behavior, and being observant of their behavior. After all, they observe ours. If I put socks and shoes on after coming home, Ginger will watch me to see if I'm leaving the house or just going outside.

We're happy little Vegemites
As bright as bright can be

We all enjoy our vegemite
For breakfast, lunch, and tea

Our mummies say we're growing stronger
Every single week

Because we love our Vegemite
We all enjoy our Vegemite

It puts a rose is every cheek!

Back when I was a WoW raider, we had an Aussie in the guild that would sing the vegemite theme song every time we downed a boss. It got kinda annoying.
Nice cat BTW.

Some of us are in college and can't afford a shiny new monitor.

LMK if they ever solve the interpolation problems inherent to LCDs so I can run multiple resolutions without nasty blurring.

Also having a Maine my excellent compatriot, Kula, I can say with authority, aren't you glad that is not Killer and your 21" monitor?

For the rest of the story, looking at Killer and knowing from my cat, 21 inches is too small a resting place. Larger male Maine Coons are 20-23#. Mine weighs 21 and is not fat. Just a little smaller than a Jack Russell. Completely fills a laundry basket with his head up against the side. Killer's pic appears to be the same size.
