I linked to explanations of how Powertune works and examples of it causing throttling during gaming in Metro2033. This really angers certain people that are claiming only Nvidia can throttle.
Sorry.

If a overclocker has to adjust powertune to stop throttling its another variable in the endeavor. -10%-0-+10%, there is going to be a limit hit in watts drawn. It may help achieving the most efficient overclock ? Power draw comparisons should always be taken with this setting maxed out, something I've heard argued against.

Yes but the point is that you are given the choice to adjust powertune on AMD hardware. And it's proven to be a safe choice. Nvidia offers no choices with the 590, stock voltage or nothing.

You can hack it by using the older dangerous drivers, by why bother when your card will catch fire ?

and vcg is a payed for shill farce....

I don't know if it's that bad, but it sure would explain some of the relentless diatribe that gets posted around here. This is worse than car fanbois where Ford, Chevy, Imports, etc... just suck no matter what. At least with them there's still some sort of comradery.

Once a more robust reference or 3rd party PCB is produced, the dual GF110 card will be the clear winner

Fudzilla tested a POV gtx 590 that comes clocked at 692mhz, they then tested it with another gtx 590@602mhz for Quad SLI.
That combination drew 1100 watts.
