Kitchen scale accurate to 1/8th ounce or 1 gram

So an ounce is about 28 grams. 1/8 ounce is about 3.5 grams. My new digital scale has 1/8 ounce precision, but if I switch to grams it's 1 gram.

That doesn't make any sense, if it can do 1 gram then surely it could do 1/16th of an ounce! Guess I'll just have to go metric.
