it just started out as replacing appliances...

grew into tearing out a cabinet, replacing vinyl floor, rebuilding subfloor, putting down new hardwood laminate, rewiring the fuse box, get a gas line run to the kitchne (i paid someone to do that), adding a new outlet, replace a water valve.

finally done, except for painting and replacing trim. :D

Look Here

poke around in the other directories for pics of progress...

thanks Fausto, and all the other cheers.

The floor was a glueless hardwood laminate, made by Armstrong, about 1.75 ft^2. Pergo is much more expensive than that...

It was fairly easy to install. Time consuming but easy.

Prepping the floor took a while.
1) Had to move out appliances and in our case a free standing countertop and cabinet. (1 hour)
2) remove baseboards, trim, and door. (1 hour)
3) had to tear out old stuff (1 hour)
4) had to replace a piece of flooring (3 hours)
5) had to clean and laydown sub flooring (3 hours)

Installation was easy.... took about 8 hours total. I could probaly do it in half that time now.

1) need a table saw, or a miter saw to speed up things.
2) dont' worry too much about keeping boards from shifting as you tamp in each row, they can be adjusted after you finish the floor.
3) wife was helpful for fetching and toting... it was supposed to be her job, but she punted pretty quickly.
4) get your first couple of rows square and it all goes easy after that. Our walls were actually square. ;)
