KinMax Memory Stability issue....memory or other?

I have the following system that isn't overclocked.
WinXP Pro SP1, Pentium 4 2.4ghz (533mhz)
MSI 845GL board (333mhz not offically supported, but reviewers had no problems at 333mhz).
2x Kingmax PC3200 ram (see below for specs)
Antec Truepower 480w PS
GF4-4200 64mb video.
Antec 1030b case, well ventilated and cool.

Problem: If I run the memory at 333mhz, instead of 266mhz, using the SPD settings the system is unstable, and most games lockup after a minute or two.

To "fix" the problem, I changed the memory timings to the most conserative possible, and the system is stable. If I improve ANY of the memory timings the system becomes unstable. I have tried running only one module, but same results.

Is the problem my memory modules? I'm very tempted to buy a Corsair XMS PC3200 512mb module, but hate to spend $150 to have no improvement.
KingMax DDR memory 256MB PC3200 MPXB62D OEM
Specifications:
Performance range - 200MHz ( DDR400, CL2.5 )
Double-data-rate architecture; two data transfers per clock cycle
Auto & self refresh capability (4096 Cycles / 64ms)
Single 2.5V ±0.2V power supply Programmable Read latency 2, 2.5 (clock)
Programmable Burst length (2, 4, 8)

I've also upped the memory, AGP, and CPU voltages in various combinations but haven't seen any improvements.

Suggestions, ideas? Need more info? Just let me know.

Thanks,
Souka

Edit: Kingmax memory

333Mhz not officially supported, 512Mb AND generic brand memory.....doesnt sound like a good combination to me. Get some supported memory/mobo that fully supports memory

Geez, two flames in a row.....

Generic memory?? Um....Kingmax=generic?

The Mobo, according to anandtec and Sharkey's did 333mhz without problems, and overclocked very well.

Also, I did stabiliy tests with just one 256mb stick....no noticible difference.

Now, just to add, I may have found my own answer.....something that the previous flames...errr, I mean posts didn't say. I searched for "user reviews" of this particular Kingmax memory. I found that Abit boards seem to not like it.....interesting.

I'm ordering a 512mb stick of some other brand memory....maybe a cosair xms module... hopefully it'll work better. Guess I'll just eBay the other sticks. Bummer too.

Soz, I said Kingmax=generic because it is probably just generic re-branded (like SMART etc), i.e not Kingston which is a brand.

lbmcleod, Kingmax is definately a brand..not generic, and PC 3200 is rated above 333 MHz.

Yeah well, turns out like many PC3000+ memory, it'll do 333mhz but at reduced clock timings.

oh well....like I said while back....I might just go buy some properly rated hi-speed ram and ebay my kingmax ram.

thx guys.....
