While not a Hot Deal, this corresponds to past ValuRam Hot Deals.

How long, on average, has it taken any of you to get your Kingston rebates back?

thanks,

Led

I'm also waiting for rebate from Kingston. It has been about 2 months also. But You can check the status of the rebate from the website of the company that does their rebates. Here is the info:

914-633-0663
rebateline@aol.com
www.tcarebates.com

Kingston is a reputable company, I wouldn't worry. I'm more worried about my I/O Magic rebates!

I have read more than a few threads concerning Kingston rebates. While I think they have quality ram, they also seem to practice shady rebate policies. I have sent in 5 Kingston rebates on differnt items I have purchased over the last 18 months. I have recieved 2 (after 3 weeks or so). All were filled out properly, and I sent in original UPC, etc. Two of the 3 missing rebates just never showed, and the third one was dissallowed because I supposedly didn't send in the original UPC. (of course I know I did because it's just a sticker, and I stick it right to the receipt)

Someone should start a class action against them. -I just don't buy their stuff anymore, rebate or not.

Call, call, call. With I/O magic, go to their site and fill out the form if your rebate does not come in the time frame stated. They will send it out really quick.

It's been a month since I bought the valueram from buy.com. I checked the tcarebates and checked my status and nothing came up. It said nothing could be found. Does that mean they never received my rebate?

Just received mine today 2/20/01 (Outpost/Kingston-$20 / mailed out on 11/27/00). Also received my 2nd Quantum rebate ($30), which was submitted back on 9/9/00.

I normally check their web sites for my rebate status.
If there is a problem, a phone call will usually get
you the rebate in a week or two.

It means they are going to "claim" they didn't, not the same thing at all. That's exactly what they did to me. Claimed they didn't get 2, denied 1, out of 5 different rebates.

It makes suspect that every 3 or 4 go directly into the shredder. I believe "Plausible deniability" is the way it was said to me by another person who got the shaft from Kingston.

I sent mine in for the pc100/256mb in mid-December. I periodically checked TCA's site, nothing's shown up until a few days ago. So don't fret if it hasn't appeared, I don't think your name will come up in their database until the check is printed. I could be wrong tho!

It says...

Full Name:
Street Address:
Promotion Name : KINGSTON/BUY.COM REBATE
Rebate Status: CHECK MAILED
Rebate Amount: $30.00
Check Date: 02-15-2001

So there's nothing I can do if the tcarebates website reads "no results"? Maybe it hasn't been gotten into their database. Does it take a month for a rebate to be read and entered into their database?

thanks DocYahoo, my check date says check mailed on 02-15-2001 🙂 i will tell my buddies they can check their rebate status.

FYI, I have *never* gotten a rebate out of TCARebates without calling. I checked their site a week ago, I've got two rebates listed. One has a check date of 1/26/01, the other has a check date of 2/25/01. I called to ask why the January check hadn't been mailed. Lo and behold, it must have been a coincidence, but that check was just mailed that day! So I asked about the 2/25/01 check and, what do you know, it just happened that that check had just been mailed that day also!! Was that an amazing coincidence or what!

IMO, TCArebates is with holding the payout to get interest off our money. My valueram is dated 1/21/01 and I have not received it yet. They did the same thing with the 3DFX rebate. They do not reply to any emails. The phone number listed on the rebate page where they have your "status" does not get answered. I called the number at the main office, but got some silly secretary who finally got me a Supervisor. I called them because they removed the 3DFX from their site (even though I did not get it yet) after the emails. He said they were concerned about 3DFX going belly-up but they had always been good with their rebates. I think that was bunk. I would bet they got paid right away, and are the ones holding things up. I never had any trouble with rebates except the Staples/D-Link they tried to claim I sent in improper bill of sale. All of my rebates came back beofre the claimed allowed 8 or 6 weeks. Not with these clowns. I have only had two, and they are delaying them both. I think everyone should email Kingston and complain about TCA's service with the rebates. I even emailed the "sales" email addy, telling them I would email Kingston about this. That was a few days ago, and of course I got no email back. I suggest if you see your "status" up there, that you copy the page to disk and print it out. I did, so if they remove it they can't claim it wasn't up there. Here is a # 800-390-2344 that went with the Kingston rebate. I don't know if it is for TCA or Kingston. There was also a Best Buy rebate center # 888-797-3956. I am going to call both of these complaining. And BTW, after I talked to the Supervisor for the 3DFX rebate, it mysteriously showed up a couple of days later.

Mine wasn't showing up either, but today I found out that they misspelled my name, so that's why I could not look it up. Maybe it's the same case with you. And BTW, the rebate that I got today was also Outpost.com's 128MB Kingston RAM, so it looks like they are sending them out in batches.

The rebate company will do everything it can to screw you out of your rebate. My $50 one was sent to the wrong name (my name is about as difficult as John Smith) and now they are denying my $15 rebates because I bought two on one receipt! There "unwritten" policy is one rebate per receipt! I've got a call in to Best Buy to confirm it. Be careful, and keep good copies of everything you send in to these toads.

My $30 rebate finally came in today. At first they said my request was no good because of no actual store receipt from Buy.com (they knew full well the whole situation and I did provide ALL the proper stuff). I threatened to go to the FTC and suddenly my rebate request was approved. Still took just over 3 months to get the rebate. No more Kingston. (Well, maybe 😉 )

The rebate houses do not hold peoples' money, rather, the companies sponsoring the rebates only release the rebate monies in chunks at a time, usually a certain amount per fiscal quarter of the year. This way they can spread out the cost over a year, instead of all of it in just one quarter.
