Kingston ValueRam PC3200 512MB

I ordered that ram from them and got something else.

I bet you don't get what you order.

Looks like, according to RR, they have gone into a slump in the last 6 months, too bad. 🙁

Well now they have it with out rebate for $59 i ordered one, paid second day air shippment i might have it by tommorrow.

I still see $79 before $20 rebate on the website.

The scumbags at Outpost are listing the rebate for the KV400/512R, which is cheaper ram- the kind they set me when I specifically ordered KVR400X64C3A/512. I pointed this out to them months ago, and here they are doing it again. Definitely not a mistake.

They need to be investigated, and fined.

The rebate says KVR400/512R, which is the same as the ram that is being sold.

Look again.

Model #KVR400X64C3A/512, not the same as KVR/512R. The former is certified with nForce2 motherboards, the later is not.

You will most likely get KVR/512R. To make matters worse, when I placed my order the rebate specifically listed both, and I still got 512R even though I didn't order it. Then they made me pay to ship it back.:disgust:

I believe that KVR400/512R means it is good for any of their 512mb modules of pc3200 ram, including KVR400X64C3A/512. At least, that's what the case has been in the past with other rebates like this I have dealt with.

The two models are different:

KVR400X64C3A
KVR400/512R

The rebate might be good on both, but that's not the point. You are ordering one item, they're sending you a different/lesser one. That's "Bait and Switch". It's intentional here, as I and many other people pointed it out to them months ago.

Its not as though you're ordering Kingston HyperX and getting Value RAM. Its the same Value RAM line.

The specifications are identical excepting 0.198W power difference. I purchased two KVR400/512R modules in the last week and each passed two hours of Memtest86 @ CL2 2-2-6-1T. Granted, that was at 166MHz (with 5% overclock to 175MHz), but those are the SPD timings for 133MHz. 166MHz timing by SPD is CL2.5 3-3-7.

There's enough difference between the two that one is certified, the other is not.

The 512R ram wouldn't run at 200 on my mobo.

But once again, that's not the point. Order one thing, get sent another, lesser product. Simple enough.

It would be simple, if there were any basis to "deem" the KVR400/512R a lesser product, but there isn't. Value RAM is Value RAM.
