Brief product specfications of my RAM: http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.ph...wProduct&cmd=pd&pid=011151&cid=RAM.475

This is also where I got my computer. The memory timings for this RAM is 5-5-5-15 2T and I am currently running it at 667MHZ. In the BIOS I have the option of chaning my RAM speeds from 400MHZ to 800MHZ.

Is it possible for my VALUERAM to run at DDR2-800MHZ instead of it's rated DDR2-667MHZ? Also, is it ok for me to run my RAM at 4-4-4-12 1T or something close to those timings?

Finally, is 512MB RAM enough for my computer? I know the RAM is bottlenecking my computer right now so there's no point in overclocking my CPU. Thanks.

Come on....I seriously want some replies....even though I won't be overclocking.

Fat chance that 512 will be enough memory for anyone posting here. You can get by with 768, but 512 boggs down in no time flat. Open up Google Earth and the HDD light starts going crazy, especially if you have antivirus installed. Anyway, a gig is the minimum if you want to get your money's worth out of a dual core.

You can try speeding up your memory, but if nothing else, change it to 1T. Right now you're effectively running it at 333mhz, if I understand 1T and 2T right. Just backup your data then experiment with it. Raise the speed until it locks up or fails a stress test, up the voltage, and repeat. See what you get. But, a better use of your time would be at your job, making the bucks to get anothehr 512 or gig, that'll help way more than overclocking your memory.

Are K-Byte RAMs good? My dad wants to get those RAM from Best Buy or Future Shop.

My CPU is at stock speeds like what I said before in my previous post. In CPU-Z, under memory; it says my FSB to DRAM is CPU/6. Is my memory running at a 1:1 ratio? Is that the memory divider thing? Also how does the memory divider thingy work and how would I change the ratio in the BIOS.

Many thanks in advance.

Find out what your FSB is, then find what your memory is running at, then you'll know if it's on a divider. It probably is because the system will auto-detect that it's 667mhz and will run it at that, so it's at a divider. Either take it up to 800mhz and an even 2:1 memory to FSB ratio, or forget it. You probably won't see much improvement, but you can try it anyway.

read reviews on anything and everything you buy.

No, K-Byte RAM is horrible. Well, it doesn't overclock at all. It runs fine at what it's spec'd to run at, but usually won't go any higher. Kingston Value RAM is alot better, even though it's still cheap RAM. As a matter of fact, Corsair Value is even better, usually for roughly the same price.

If only Kingston RAMs would go on sale at Best Buy/Future Shop....

Can someone answer my question on how to use the RAM divider in the BIOS. I've read from other reviews/sites that say AMD processors are double-pumped unlike Intel's quad pumped. Also in CPU-Z when it says FSB to DRAM, in AMD processors, that would be the HT link right?? Or would the FSB be the Bus Speed.

Would this be in the owner's manual??

AT is not your own personal tech support site

That being said, what you want to do is overclocking, regardless of what you think.

So will your value RAM overclock from 667 to 800?

Hard to say unless you try it!

Since it has a default vdimm of 1.8V, i'd suggest trying to bump that up a notch or two to 1.9/2.0V, & then trying to boot up at 800.

It'd be far smarter to try gradually overclocking the CPU along with the RAM though @ 1:1 or 4:5 though, as you will then be able to find the max of your RAM w/o having to reset CMOS if it doesn't work.

Also, your link to your rig doesn't work.
Link to your My Anandtech page instead.

I see....well thanks

I feel a bit selfish getting mad and everything but it's jus that so many people read these posts yet no one replies to em. hope i didn't offend anyone. lol

Also...I just clicked on the link to my rig and it worked fine....maybe cus i'm logged in right now. I'll check it out. Thanks n7 for the heads up and everything.
