so is this just a crazy deal?

I have a COmpaq 2800T laptop...it'll work right?

I just bought one right now...came out to about $93+ with shipping and Tax.

I hope it's good...I bought it without even knowing what the hell it does. Mass storage? Small card? That's all I needed to know.

71 left when I checked out.

Do I receive some sort of confirmation from buy.com? Or do you think they'll reneg on it?

basically it is an IBM microdrive type drive that fits compact flash II compliant devices.
Hopfully this is a good deal, doesn't seem to be very many people up at this time of the night.

I'm not sure if it is such a good deal...it's an ALRIGHT deal I guess. I checked ebay, and comparable items (like the toshiba ones) go for around $100.00.

I'm not even sure what I need 2Gb for, since I can burn cd's off my laptop....I don't think I've EVER had to transfer or backup a file bigger than what'll fit on a cd.

what does everyone else use it for?

This will NOT work in your digital camera. This is a Type II PCMCIA card, NOT a type II compact flash card. Big difference. This is for a laptop not a camera.

It did say on the BUY.COM site that this will work in digital cameras which were TYPE II PC card compliant. So this card will work with the cameras listed on the the buy.com site. Plus on the Kingston site it say max of 120mb/sec transfer rate vs the toshiba with a 20 mb/sec. (probably 66 burst). And the ones on ebay went for 109 including shipping. Plus I see only 2 listed on ebay.
The DataPak PC Card is a portable hard disk drive that fits into any Type II PC Card slot. Kingston DataPak PC Card hard drive supports PC-based operating systems such as DOS, Microsoft Windows, Windows 95, Windows NT, and Apple Mac OS computers that comply to the Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA) PC Card Standard.

Whether you need to back up data or expand on the capacity of your hard drive, Kingston DataPak is the perfect solution for all of your storage needs.
