That headline should read:

"Kingston to flush $75 million down the toilet"

You get the same outcome, either way.

Kingston's #2 in the US behind Micron...since Micron is going with DDR, Kingston wants to be the #1 distributor for Rambus memory. Also, Micron provides most of the memory to the large OEMS (dell, gateway, compaq). Kingston just wants to claim the smaller PC makers. I just don't know why they're spending that much money...they must get some help from Intel/Rambus/Dell.

extra:

funny that you mentioned that...Kingston already gave about $20 Million in bonuses to its employees (about 500) already. I know because my dad works there. :)

So the upper management get what about 15 Million and the rest of the employees get the rest? Welcome to corporate America folks!

I don't think smaller OEMs are going to bother with Rambus. The only OEMs going for Rambus are the ones that have Intel written on there forehead *cough* Dell *cough*

Finality:

How many companies will give their employees bonuses after they are bought out? By the way, the bulk of the money did not go to upper management (aside from the original founders, who deserves the money). Most of the people got $10,000 and above...twice during the year (1997). The story was widely publicized and Kingston got flooded with career seekers for many days after the story broke out. Now that's what I call a company that all corporations should follow on terms of treating employees. :)
