I bought some Kingston 512DDR-400 a while back, Then a week later I bought another Kingston 512DDR-400

I didnt notice at the time but, when I ran CPU-Z, it said ones a kingston other is samsung, WTF> I look inside the case ans surely one has kingston chips and other has samsung chips but both were in retail kingston box and both have the original Kingston Sticker.
Here are the CPU-Z results. As you can see the 200MHZ speed has the same timing on both memories But they're still different. IS this ok. Is the timing the only thing that matters when it comes to Overclocking and best performance.

Kingston w/ Samsung Chip

Why is this?

Samsung is a chip provider. Kingston, Corsair etc.... gets it from them and others then makes the memory sticks with it.

Which chips do you have in the RAM? Some of the early PC3200 had BH-5 WinBond chips, and some of the newer stuff has TCCD Samsung. Both of those are killer chips. TCCD acts just like some of the "Super CH-5" that was around a little while back.

You can tell if you take off the heatspreaders and read the code off of the chips. Don't do so if you are going to return them, as it voids the warranty.

Kingston will make (with chips from several vendors) or buy the entire modules for resale depending on the market conditions at the time. I got some Samsung in a Kingston package once too.
. What to do? Give thanks to your personal deity!!! You just got about the best around...

Who knows? Samsung makes so many modules perhaps they have gone with the Julian day to narrow the field a bit - that would put it in March of 04.

im thinking of getting another stick of 512mb of RAM for my system. i currently have 512mb of Samsung PC3200 (400)

i was thinking of getting a second stick of Kingston value RAM...would they be a good match.

my current system specs are:
AMD Athlon 64-bit Processor at 3000+ (754)
Asus K8V SE Deluxe K8T800
512MB Samsung DDR Memory (2.5-3-3-8)

Kingston doesn't generally use Samsung silicon that much any more - too expensive. They have a large investment in some other chip maker and generally uses their chips. They buy samsung when they can't meet demand or production schedules themselves or get a very special deal and for some of the more exotic types of modules (ECC, registered, etc.).
. The likelihood of getting Samsung in a standard DDR ValueRAM package is on the same level as matching five on the Lotto...
. A tolerant big-box store manager once let me rifle through their Kingston inventory and I didn't find one Samsung. Unf, some smart store employees (usually the comp service techs) know of this potential and grab them for themselves or to sell on eBay.

So i should be glad is what some of you are saying.
One final question. WIll the mix of the rams cause any problems or reduction in overclocking ability along w/ performance.

Please note that both Sticks are running on the same timing 3:3:3:8

So it sounds like I'm ok.

For overclocking, it would likely not be a good idea, but at stock rated speeds you should be fine. The worst that I have seen in a mixed combe was easily fixable by a small voltage bump.
