Guys,
Anyone familiar with 'Kingston' branded chips on their Kingston memory?
I've just received 2 lots of Kingston 512mb pc2700; one has Samsung chips, the
other 'Kingston'. One of them needs to go back, 'cos I want to dual-channel on
my Dell 400SC. Question is, which one should I keep. I don't want to actually
open the packages in case I get hassled trying to return them to Office Max.
Any ideas?
:D

Thanks. But, from what I'm reading on other forums etc , the concensus seems to be that you need to have the same chips on each stick of memory. You saying that's not the case?

It's recommended to have two equal just to ensure compatibility but it can also work with different ones I believe.

Got ya. To be safe I'll just hunt around until I can find matching chipsets at OfficeMax.
As for my original question about the quality of the 'Kingston' branded chips, I think it's not going to be easy to answer. Looked at some more of that stuff yesterday and found some sticks which although they were branded with Kingston on the chips, they were totally different looking to some others I found which were also 'branded' the same way. Sounds like Kingston are having different suppliers stamp their name on the chips. Oh well. Thanks for your help guys.
