Mine had the same date! Mine didn't have the footer though...no mention of when I bought the RAM (which also happened to be the 14th!).

The rebate said that you could send in the packing slip or the invoice, so I sent in a copy of my order confirmation/status page from Kingston. They better damned well give me the rebate!

Surprise, surprise.

I got two 256DDR400 to add to my Dell 4600 and the rate slowed from 400MHz to 333MHz. Even though Kingston claims it is CL3, the 4600 sees it as CL2.5. Since the existing RAM is CL3, the Dell bios slows the system down to 333MHz. Go figure!

Are you sure you got the correct part? They were also selling 256mb DDR333 that is CL2.5.

Welcome to AnandTech forums ! 🙂

guess your Dell's BIOS is keeping your stuffz safe that way.. 😉

or pull the original dimm and see what happens then..if you decided to have all(more than 2..maybe even a mobo quirk to allow compatability) slots populated that is..

Apparently, this is a known issue with 4600 and 8300 mob/bios. If I put in just new CL2.5, then it runs @ 400MHz. But if you mix anything else other than CL3, it slows.

Talked to Kingston support and he said they offer a special RAM for Dell. The ValueRam is not the correct addition to Dell boards. The RAM I got was supposed to be DDR400 and CL3, but CPUz shows it to be 400MHx and CL2.5. Oh well, he said to call on Monday and swap it out.

Already sent in the rebate. Wonder what will happen?

..cl 2.5 400mhz is better than cl 3 333mhz..you just said with the cl 2.5 you get 400mhz..DDR400 is pc3200 ..so it is a mobo issue ..if Kingston said they'll swap ..you won't have no trouble swapping..gl

Just so I'm clear, the cl2.5 DDR400 Kingston ValueRam (which actually is labeled as CL3) runs at 400MHZ if CL3 DDR400 are not in the other pair of slots. With the CL3 installed, the whole system slows to 333MHz even though both are DDR400.

I'm hoping that the Kingston DDR400 RAM supposedly made for Dell systems does not cause the same problem.
