Kingston 2GB Secure Digital Card for $9.95 AR + Free Shipping

Hot! But deal is contingent on rebate. Item ships in two weeks, but rebate expires 1/13/07. Is rebate validity based on the order or the shipment date?

How has buy.com improved in terms of general customer service and actually getting your products. It's been a long time since I have dealt with this company and back in the days the rating was horrible.

Also any experience with rebate turn around? what are we looking at here? A couple of weeks or 6+ months?

great deal btw, I'm just hesitant to bite.

danny~!

I too, had a questionable experience with Buy.com maybe 6 years ago, so I stopped using them. In 2005, I tried them a couple times (with rebates also) and everything went fine. This year I placed 11 orders with them from the end of Oct to the end of Dec because of the 10 off 30 and 20 off 50 Google checkout coupon. I saved a lot because of it. Several orders had rebates and even though I haven't received them, it's because it hasn't been the obligatory 8 weeks. I have done three rebates with Kingston/Buy.com and one is in process and two I just sent out last week so it doesn't show up at this time. I never have had a problem with Kingston renates ever. As a matter of fact the, Kingston 2GB USB drive I bought for 9.95 after 35 MIR crashed last week. I went to Kingston's website Wednesday the 3rd of Jan for an RMA. Kingston pays for the return shipping through FedEx 2nd day so it doesn't cost anything. I sent it the 3rd, they received it on the 5th (via Fedex tracking). On Monday the 8th, they emailed me saying it was shipped via FedEX 2nd day. I received the new drive on Wed the 10th. Great job by Kingston on their customer service!

What about the rebate dates? Rebate expires 1/13/07, but item will not ship for two weeks. Is rebate going to be good?

I guess it depends on how it shows on the receipt. If you used google checkout it should be fine. If you use Buy.com's payment system, I can't say for sure. I used the Google check out with I ordered two Kingstron 1GB micro SD cards on separate days. One on the 21st and the second on the 23rd of December. The rebate expiration was the 23rd. Since it was google checkout, they bill the CC right away so the order date shows on the receipt the 21st and 23rd respectively for me. Both cards shipped on the 28th and I didn't receive one of them until the 4th of Jan because it came from the mid-east by Ground.

edit: to mermaidman, I looked at the rebate form and you have 30 days from purchase date. So if you don't get it for 2 weeks or so, you still have time to send it in. If you use google checkout for this purchase you should be fine. The date on the receipt will show the date that you ordered.

Also for those that don't want to mess with a rebate, here's the same 2GB card with an SD card reader for 23.00 shipped if you use the google check out. I bought two of these myself last month for just a couple bucks cheaper.

Not positive how they handle 'date ordered', but I suspect the bigger risk is with date rebate mailed. It must be within 30 days of purchase, and you need the original UPC in order to mail in the rebate. If delivery gets pushed out 30 days for any reason. . .

Thanks.

That's a tempting combo, especially since no rebate.

Does anybody have the rebate form for this? The one that is currently up is for 1/14 - 1/20, but I purchased like some of you on 1/11. PM me please if you have the pdf, thanks.
