c627627, normally, if the memory card is more expensive than the camera, then it either won't work or not worth it, for the camera that is 🙂

anyway, the 1GB is plenty for A60

Yes.

Compact flash (CF) has a lot of the read and write hardware on the disc instead like the other mediaformats (SD, MS, XD, etc) which has more hardware on the reader (camera). The effect of this is that old CF readers are compatible with the newest CF media whilst the other formats sometimes need firmware updates or could be uncompatible.
