Ideal for a variety of applications, Flash memory is a reliable and easy way to store and transport vital information. Kingston's 256 MB CompactFlash card is fully compatible with digital products that use Flash memory technology. Approximately one third the size of a full-sized PC card, the card can be used in Type II PC card slots when you use an adapter. This rugged, low-power card can store up to 256 MB of digital data.

Manufacturer Part# CF/256
Dell Part# 691272-4

note, the picture shows the high speed version, but I'm not sure that's what they're actually shipping.

you are not allowed to ask for coupon codes here

the original deal (first post) is no longer valid

dell home still has 15% off

card is type II

I've read in the previous thread about a similar deal that ALL Kingston CF cards now are HS although it's not labeled as such. Maybe that'll explain why the Kingston website doesn't show any kinda info on a particular "high-speed" CF card.

Here 7th post from the last, posted by Cmanster

Can't seem to find the 10% off coupon too. Had to order it this way. Still not a bad deal.

Just FYI: the Kingston CF/256 is not high speed. It's like the one I got one week ago from Dell the picture in Dell website is showing high speed but according to Kingston website the CF/256 is not high speed the high speed one is CF/256-S.

Regards
Flippo 🙂

Okay..at least I don't feel like an idiot now for returning the non high-speed CF card to Dell Home. I'm still waiting for my shipment from Dell SBE for an order I placed weeks ago

If I receive the non HS again I'm gonna send it back again..at their expense!

Thanks for the update.

I'm still thinking about getting this; it's the chepest name-brand 256mb CF card I can find. The next best deal is for $35 AR Viking at amazon and buy.com.

Interesting, I talked with a CSR, and they said it was definately HS.
Here's the picture of the Kingston part # CF/256 on Dells site. Definitely shows "High Speed".

Hopefully not a "mistake" on their part. 😕

What do they mean Type II with adapter? So is this card Type I ?

In the previous thread people said it was working fine with the canon s200. This is the camera I have now. Anyone have any clues about this? Is this the same card from the previous thread or has it changed from type I to type II?

I'll be getting mine on Tue. Hope so.

According to Kingstons website, they only manufacture Type I cards. Both their Digital Media Technical Guide and Compact Flash Product guide seem to support this. I searched their web site and couldn't find any information about type II cards either.

Kingston

They also state "Our Type I CompactFlash cards can also be used in Type II PC Card slots when you use an adapter".

The Dell website stats "Approximately one third the size of a full-sized PC card, the card can be used in Type II PC card slots when you use an adapter."
Yet on the tech spec page it says Type II.

Can anyone confirm what type it is? Like I said, some people said it worked for the canon s200 in the previous thread, so I thought it might be a type I.
