WOO HOO! Jumped on this deal when Buy.com had it with rebate for pretty much the same price a few weeks back... since this new rebate seems to be C4S specific, I should be eligible for both :) Although the stick I got from Buy.com had IBM chips and not Infineon so I guess I didn't get the absolute best, but I'm not an big overclocker, yet at least. It just makes me feel good to know that I'd be running the exact same type of RAM. I was looking for another stick of PC133, seeing as how I'm running that Buy.com stick of 128MB Kingston ValueRam PC133 and an old stick of 128MB PC100... I'm looking to get a T-Bird and a nice KT133A mobo here pretty soon, so it'll be nice to have 256MB of PC133 I can run :D (and keep the old PC100 stick on the mobo I have now when I build a new comp with those old parts)

Too bad ECS (BrandsForLess.com) changed their free shipping offers so much, first they raised the free shipping minimum order from $25 up to $50 then they removed Computers4Sure.com from almost all future promotions :(

Shipping refunds are good! But still $36 for 128MB is an incredibly hot deal.

But the CompUSSR deal is for crap "CompUSSR brand" memory, not for Kingston or PNY or any other name brand.

Did you guys happen to notice a little deal on the bottom of the very last page of that ad for the VTech ultra-compact cordless phone? It was $79.99 - $30 rebate = $49.99. It's the same phone Office Depot is selling for $49.66. So you buy the phone plus a pencil at OD to bring your total over $50, use the $15 off $50 coupon, send in the $30 MIR (As long as it's not CompUSA specific; even if it is there are ways around that), and you wind up with that phone for $5 after rebate!

RossMAN,

ECS wants $75 minimum now, not $50 minimum for BFL. However, that'd still cover anyone who ordered two of these sticks. Good buy.

ACK! If you look at the Rebate page you will see that they lame-ly added Expires: 2/16/2001 to the top of the page... yet the graphic still says valid 2/1/01 - 2/28/01 Should I risk it??? (I have saved the graphic to my local hard drive of course now!)

Like shotgun said, it's a bit risky. The rebate page says it ended 2/16 but the graphic still says it's valid till 2/28. Don't risk the $45.

Just got off the phone with them and the CSR said she couldnt figure out why there was two different dates. She told me to call back on Monday when the supervisor would be there to correct it.

I think I'll wait til monday to see if there is some kind of conflict.

FWIW Shotgun IBM and Infineon (formely Siemens) jointly developed their 64MB and 256MB memory technology so you are getting basically the same chip design using the same processing technology no matter whose name is on the label.;)

If you have hard data about yield, speed sort or reliability of chips from either manufacturer please share. :p

My experience with Microprocessors when IBM and Cyrix were testing and shipping processors built by IBM was that IBM used tougher test specs than Cyrix and that their chips were mough more overclockable. YMMV
