This is a worthless post.. if it were 5 pack it'd be a hot deal.. but it's not so this post sucks..
I have 5 or so various pci 10/100 cards (Linksys + Netgear) lying around all over the place and these EtherRx wouldn't even measure up to their quality.. ethernet cards like these are dirt cheap everywhere.. if you bought one at that price you weren't looking very hard..

Agreed, these are not the best NIC's around but the only thing "worthless" in this thread are the comments made by Phunktion.

This is the NIC PacBell provides with their external DSL modem. Didn't want to make any changes to what they claim is an optimized combination.

Been using it for months now with no prob.

Phunktion,
don't crap unless you have a better deal.
if you have one, we'd all be happy to see it.

well, I am looking for a NIC too, but the shipping is too high compared to the price of the card itself, where to get free shipping, anybody?

Sorry, I know this is Hot Deals... but I have a few 10/100 PCI cards at home. Not sure on brand right now. Some are SOHO, some are IBM I think. I can give exact specs when you write me e-mail. $9 shipped USPS Priority with D.C.

Heatware sun818 (77 positive), major auction site 500+

Thanks,
Sun W.

Hey what is wrong with the Kingston network cards?
Who says they aren't as good a quality?
I have had a bunch of Kingston products and they have been very dependable and amazingly easy to setup with Linux.
Never one problem.

Maybe I am stupid, but when people start saying that this card or that card is ok....but not as good as another, it makes me wonder.

On what basis? Personal experience or is it just an opinion built on ...well I don't know what ;)

I still have the Kingston from when my Pacbell DSL was installed over 2 years ago. Its never given me a problem. If you're hardware nut and spend thousands of dollars on premium everything... that's one thing. But for home use, this 10/100 card has been wonderful.

But I'll stick take a 3com over a Kingston anyday... ;)

This is actually the NIC that P'bell DSL service includes with their installation package.

Agree that it might not be the best but it works just fine.

though there're Netgear for $9 at bestbuy which would be a better choice this time around.

I don't see any reason that Netgear

<< SUX >>

, at least for me.

I've used these cards for all my computers, networking 98se and Me has no problem at all. I connect these cards through my linksys switch and they work just fine.

Just want to share my experience about this card.

Yea, I think I'll go with the NIC version cable modem instead of USB, as most people have told me it's less hassle with driver issues and the like...have some slots free, so what the h*ll...

3Com or Linksys seem to be the best, right? any hot deals out there? :)
