King's Bounty: The Legend

This is the first time where I have actually felt that I received my moneys worth for a computer game in a long time. This game brought me right back into the addict that I was... I encourage anyone who likes the HOMM series, or the origonal King's Bounty (Genesis) to play this game. I am sure you will like if you are a HOMM fan and be sure to grab the demo first.

Graphics are really good, the game is relatively bug free at this point, out of the box widescreen support, unlike HOMM5. For those who do not know, King's Bounty is basically the precurser to all of the HOMM games. There is quite a bit of strategy involved in the game, and each battle is just as fun as the last. I have about 25 hours into it so far and am about 1/2 way through the game. However, even when the game is over, you can go back and start a new game, the replayability is and always will be there for this type of game.

My 'only' complaint is that I wish the engine scaled a bit better for older hardware. What I mean by that is Intel X4500 (not tested, BTW, but one user was using X3100) or even my scaled back 9600M GT (DDR2) when unplugged (clocks down to ~250 core on battery mode). Seriously considering picking up that Asus N10J with a 9300M GT just to be able to play this game anywhere I go...

Loved it up until the demon place. I think I just got burnt out on it or something. I didn't have a good strategy against the demons so I was losing too many units a fight.

<3 for the original on Genesis (or Megadrive where i came from 🙂)
I ordered this for my dad for xmas, can't wait to see his reaction 😀

40 hours into the game before I beat it a few weeks ago. Not bad, but the battles get tedious and easy after a while once youve got an appropriate strategy.

You know, that is a good question... I never tried. The only flying units worth a damn so far are the griffins and even they kinda suck imo, at least with my play style. When I get a chance to test it, I will let you know.

I can certainly see your viewpoint on it. But part of the fun isn't just 'winning' at least, not for me. Learning how to take the fewest casualties, increasing your hero to be more powerful, trying to get a high score at the end of game... Or you can always turn up the game's difficulty to Hard or Impossible.

Been having so much fun. I have never invested this many hours into a game within the last 2-3 years, not counting an MMO. This game is brilliant.

How much does this game cost? I couldn't find a place that sold it that I could look at while at work in the short search I did.

Best buy has it, or at least it did have it. I seen in on the shelf earlier... I actually purchased mine from D2D... So my 'out of the box' statement is probably not accurate. I never received a box. 😀

i played the original on the apple //e.... gosh i feel so old....

i'm enjoying this game so far, it's pretty cool.

Army of vampires for the win 😉

I used to play the original on the Genesis like a crack addict. I'm also a huge HOMM fan, I'll definitely be picking this one up.

Also a big fan of the Genesis version here, and a HUGE fan of all the HoMM games prior to 4. I think I'll have a new game to sink what little remains of my free time into.

Thanks OP!

I found it at GoGamer for $27.90 Link

i didn't like it and i'm a huge HOMM fan. it was way too tedious going around getting more exp. so that you can hire more. it comes in such small increments that there's a lot of going back and forth.

just felt like 1 map on HOMM, but here it's the whole game.

min: yeah I sort of agree that it's a little slow, and the lack of skirmish/scenario maps is disappointing and will affect replay value, but the game itself IMO is extremely polished and worth the $. The dev's did a superb job.
