Yes, but 90 times out of 100 the refs won't call anything on a shot with time expiring.

NO. i dont know the exact wording but a player can not touch another player if it means that his shot will be affected. generally speaking this means if you touch him on the arm or push him a foul will be called. and according to the rules a players hand is part of the ball.

I know what a foul is, but ask anyone that watches NBA and in an important game it'll take a whole lot for the refs to call a foul on the last play such as last night. That will get called in the first 47 minutes of a game, but in the last minute of such a close game the refs let the players play. On top of that it was such a minor foul that it didn't alter the shot. Kobe was trying to be the hero and he took a hurried shot. That's why it didn't go in.

agreed. it's considered taboo to call a foul in the last few seconds of the game, unless it's very deliberate.

this definitely gives the advantage to the aggresive defender.

Magic and Charles need to STFU, damn lakers fans.
Charles just told Bibby that they have to win road games to win championships and bibby responded, "how would you know charles?" HAHAHA

we'll see. I still think the championship goes through LA if karl comes back healthy AND Shaq can hit more than 50% of his free throws. But I'm rooting for the Kings to kill LA in the playoffs... but my pick to win it all is still the Timberwolves (but only by a slim slim slim margin.)

I think the Timberwolves will choke once again. They're a dominant team but I can't see them beating San Antonio or Sacramento in a best of 7 series. If the Lakers do not win a championship, say farewell to Payton, Malone, and Kobe. ESPN suggested they trade Shaq to the highest bidder if that ever happens so they can start re-building.

had the Lakers won last night game, faker fans would be singing a different tune. perhaps even bragging how theres no way SAC can beat LA when LA is healthy. too bad LA's talented all-stars can't best an injured team.

I don't think malone will be gone, he's going after the all time scoring title. Payton won't retire he's too healthy and got good years left in him. Shaq can't be traded, he will ONLY play for Phil (he's said it so many times already). Plus if they win a championship, Phil wants another so the Lakers can surpass the Celtics in number of rings.

I don't think Kobe will leave at the end of the season either (championship or no championship). The only other teams that can pay him the max contract are teams not in championship contention. Kobe's smart, he'll stay were the rings are.

that was a sloppy game but impressive showing by peja and bibby though and kobe WAS fouled on that last 3pt attempt

We can call it even for the other bad calls the refs made earlier in the game. ;)

Heh. For real. In the 2nd quarter, the Lakers got 5 free points off of a BS flagrant, and a BS foul on Kobe that led to free throws and a technical.

can't blame the technical on anyone but the player.

Magic is a lakers fan (he's part owner). Charles is more of a Lakers fan than a Kings fan... you didn't hear the whole interview with Bibby either. And I'm not basing it off that one interview.

the flagrant on Wallace is BS. they collided and shaq dragged him down, he had his arm around wallace during the entire fall.

Barkley doesn't give the Kings enough credit, always predicting they will lose. also predicted Peja won't make it past the first round in the 3-pt contest. when peja scored the most points in the first round, it shut his fat ass up.

What do the rules say about the shot clock when the ball hits the rim?

lol....

that was a great game, I enjoyed it. I'm a kings fan but really, i'm not gonna talk until after they beat lakers in the playoffs. if they even meet them, I doubt the lakers will get pass the spurs or the wolfs if they meet first. what about the east this year, indiana still looking pretty good. but can they win a 7 game series against the best of the west?

the inadvertent whistle led to a jump ball. at lest the refs had the balls to acknowledge their mistake in that game unlike lakers v kings

if peja and bibby shoot like they did last night the kings can definetely go all the way. the wolves, spurs, and mavericks are pretenders imo. hell the spurs arent as good as they were last year and they barely got by the lakers who played like crap that entire series. now if karl doesnt come back they it will definetley be tough for the lakers, especially if shaq continues to be nonagressive or if the refs call touch fouls on him like they did two years ago in the wcf. im looking forward to lakers v kings in the playoffs, especially if both teams can get to full strength

The referees acknowledged NO mistake. The NBA did it for them.

A ball hitting the rim is something that did or did not happen. It is an objective call. The ball hit the rim. If the ball hits rim, the shot clock should be reset.

...Whereas calling the foul on Kobe's shot is a judgment call, regardless of whehter it happened or not. If the referee deemed that there was enough contact to warrant a foul, then he would have called it. However, considering the game situation and degree of contact, the referee felt no need to call a foul. If referees would call fouls on contact alone, there would be an inordinant amount of fouls called per game.

no team in the EAST can match up with the top 4 in the west in best of 7. The east is like junior varsity compared to the west.
