Well, here is a brave fellow who has ripped the face (fascia, actually) off of the EVGA GTX-590 Classified and installed some AUSUM (LOL) LN2 cooling blocks and has even gone QUAD-SLI with them!

He is working on the benchmarks as we speak so keep an eye out for some record breaking (pun-not intended of course ;)) OC'ing results!

*Guys, please keep the posts on topic and NOT about the GTX-590s "blowing up"!

Looks awesome :)

with LN2 your bound to break some records, so far has anyone tried to set records with LN2 + 4x 580 in SLI?

It actually would not be abnormal in this type of testing that m/b's and other parts are destroyed. All it takes is excess condensation in the wrong area and poooof. And that would not be funny.
Some 3dmark 11 extreme records would be funny though !

I think it would be more funny if they didn't. At least it would put this whole blowing up thing to rest and show what an utter waste of bandwith it truely was.

If they don't blow up under LN2 then it would certainly point to a heat/power issue with the cards that are blowing up under normal conditions.

That would certainly rest the case.

No it would not.
/facepalm
*discuss your reverse logic theory in the other thread maybe.

Guys, not pointing to anyone in particular, please keep the thread on-topic. The OP does not want it derailed into yet another "590's explode" thread.

You are allowed to post about exploding 590's in the existing thread on that topic.

what was a waste of bandwith?

I believe he is referring to all the threads/posts about the 590 "blowing up" was a waste of bandwidth.

Way I figure it, if it is a waste of bandwidth to him, then he just needs to shut his computer off, or not read the thread.

But the funny thing is, is that he "contributed" to that wasted bandwidth.

I've always drooled at the concept of LN cooling ever since I saw an article about a LN cooled P4 that was pulling 5.5ghz (must have been 2004 or something, 5.5ghz was a big deal back then).

I was wondering if these tubes in the pictures could be a permanent cooling solution, or, if they are just for a couple of hours of benchmarking.
Although notty already pointed out that there is a danger of water vapors condensing on the tubes and then, when the gpu's are on, the water turns to liquid and drips on the hardware, causing a short circuit. Would there be a way to circumvent that, like somehow keeping the humidity in the room at a low?

Not really, these guys pack the m/b's in a flexible rubber material called 'eraser' and sometimes even Vaseline to allow a few hours or until the LN2 runs out testing session.

The older cpu's 55nm, and even the current phenom II's actually respond to ln2 better than some Intel cpu's, maybe because of transistor density at high voltage , low temperatures, clock speed records are held by those cpu's I believe.

That's pretty neat, although it's not practical. I'm interested to see what kind of numbers it will put out. Too bad electronics don't run at room temperature. Damn physics! I didn't click the link. What CPU is he pushing it all with?

Those chimney pots dont cool the VRM's, if fact they look bare which has got to be worse....Ill be surprised if the cards dont fail!
