Kingmax Memory Question

Ahoy fellow ATers, I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about Kingmax's PC4000 Hardcore modules, in the 512mb flavor. They utilize TSOP Hynix D5 chips. I can get two sticks of 512mb of them for $175, and I've been looking for a good deal on PC4000 memory to come for a long, long time. What are the disadvantages of TSOP memory as opposed to normal memory, and do you think this stuff would be decent at its speed range? I'm getting an A64 combo in soon, and I'll be overclocking my Geil memory, but I know it's not going to make 250FSB, which is what I'm interested in. I'll have one of those Chaintech VFN3 boards by then. Thanks.

i have a 512mb stick of kingmax pc4000 in my abit kv8... same
No problems yet, just have it clocked to 223

There's really nothing wrong with TSOP memory, it's what most modules are. Kingmax was known in the SDR days for their Tiny BGA modules; awesome stuff back then. AT Article should tell you most of what you want to know about the Kingmax stuff. All in all, you really can't go wrong with it and if you get a good deal, then why not hop on it?

Well, there is the one stick on Newegg for $102, and someone I know is going to give me his week old stick for $75. I was just wondering if it stacks up fairly close to the big guys in terms of gaming performance. I don't want to rely on the stuff and see that it chokes worse than house brand pc4000, but I really doubt this is the case. This stuff has to be somewhat decent. Before I get the second stick, though, I need to see how high my Geil can go.

*Edit*
Thanks HappyCracker. Didn't realize that normal DIMMs were TSOP memory. I had in mind the world of video cards, where TSOP memory is typically slower. Makes sense. I guess this stuff should be pretty good then. All that is left is to test my Geil.

oh ok thats cool making sure i didnt get ripped off =)
Ill pick up another stick when i can round up the money
