Kingdom of Amalur is looking more and more interesting.

Ohh you be right. How did I get it into my head that it was?

Now I'm even more stoked for it. 😀
I think I remember reading that their ultimate goal is to make an MMO. And that they're using this game to flesh out the story and world for the MMO to take place in.

Anyway I think this looks very interesting. It seems it's something like TES with an Action game fighting system. Could be awesome if done well.

It may be just me, but the choreographed enthusiasm of the developers doesn't seem to reflect on the gameplay features that they are describing.

Why are they trying to push all these things as new and fresh, when their status in the RPG genre ranges between "it's already been done" to "it's been done to death, give it a rest already"?

It sounds amazing, but I just have a feeling EA is going to somehow **** it up to compete with call of duty.

LOL.

Anyways, sounds very Skyrim-ish as well, specially the skill tree or "destinies"

Definitely going to keep eye on it.

I think EA is just the distributer of this one, they don't own the studio or have any real control over it.

It is looking good, a nice mix of old and new ideas. Definitely worth watching.

I really hope so...

Yeah, they are just using the EA Partners program for distribution iirc. The Partner program is actually pretty good, but EA has no influence over the games or studios that use it. Just gives devs a way to use EA's distro network to get their game to the shelves basically.

Combat looks identical to DA2. :|

Scratch that...whole game looks identical to DA2. :|

I think it is the goal of every studio at the moment. $10-15 a month for 6 months is more than the $60 for a stand-alone, and add in the fact that that $60 also has a retail markup (otherwise BestBuy and EB would not carry it), and you see even more direct profit. Tie in the facts that it is harder to pirate, and you can't simply resell the game... You will quickly see why the studios want more MMO's....

Yeah, good for the Distributors. not necessarily good for the players. 🙁

But again. Not an MMO!! Yay!!!!

Way I figure it, just because it "looks" like DA2, doesn't mean a hill of beans. And as far as I am concerned, it looks a lot better (on a graphics level).

And they have RA Salvatore doing the Lore and backstory, so that will be head and shoulders above what DA2 had (which appeared to be written by some intern who got locked in a closet with the cliff notes from DA:O and told that they weren't going to be let out until they came up with a story for DA2).

Not saying I am going to pre-order. But saying that i will watch closely and evaluate as more information becomes available.

oh, and no "EA" overlord! Bonus!

we have known this would not be a MMO for a year, its like DA or SWOTOR its an action RPG, EA has nothing to do with it other then helping to publish it, 38 games is Curt Shillings game studio

Are RPG's ever going to go anywhere besides here and sci-fi?

Really....I'm so sick of this theme, and there are so many time-periods / places they could utilize to take the genre somewhere new.

Looks amazing, though the action-y combat might get stale after 50+ hours (assuming the game has that much content of course...). Definitely looks like an awesome game though.

It is unfortunate that EA is distributing this, or I would look into it to see if I want to buy it.

I hope they do well and get a new distributor for the sequel.

I didnt realize Ashton Kutcher and Justin Timberlake are game developers too!
