It comes down to which motherboard?

Msi Neo2 Has known Issues

Gigabyte als has some bios flaws

Asus , Havent found much on them..

So now.. which motherboard is the best for relaibiltiy, features, overclocking

when it comes down to gaming.

price isnt a factor.

Let it rip guys!

Your not the only one looking :)

I just purchased the 90nm 3200+ from Monarch now I need a board. I am trying to hold out hope that DFI releases their board sometime by the end of October. Im not much into the OCing part but want a good fast , stable board using the Nvidia chipset.

*now were did I place that DFI corporate phone number...... :)

i just got an msi neo2 with a 3500+ and installed it yesterday and have had zero problems with it, i don't think they're half as bad as many people are making them out to be, but maybe i'm just one of the lucky ones.

I'm also waiting, but if this DFI board is 1+ months away, I don't think I'll be waiting and I'll just hope the MSI K8N Neo2 that i'll buy wont have problems.

What he said. If you take the time to do a bios flash and a fresh install you should be ok.

You ARE one of the lucky ones.

I've been one of the unlucky ones. I had my second board come in DOA last Friday. It wouldn't even post. I sent it off to RMA today. Board #3 comes in tomorrow. I hope to have better news to report on that soon.

How did it go with the #3 Neo2 Tourguide?

Check over at the MSI forums we have managed to find out quite a few thing about the the strangeness with these boards.

managed to get mine stable now, can run for days without restart. PS2 doesnt work though, and I think thats a hardware problem.

Temps and OC are still strange (even in 1.2 bios), some mobos have PS2 problems (either don't work, work intermittantly, or cause random restarts/non post), DIMM 1 2 and SATA 3 4 seem to be the most stable combination of slots,
make sure you have 22A+ on the 12v rail, make sure your mem is on the compat list, RAID has been a pain for some people, but can be solved, Cool and Quiet wont work unless you download the latest AMD CPU drivers, AGP fastwrites must be turned off if you are using an Nvidia card in most cases othewise freezes and hangs will occur, check the default bios settings careful they are - well - crazy. Clear it with the jumper before even doing anything. if using XP SP2 turn off NXE bit handling or bluescreens will occur.

dacull :

Your still having those problems?

I'm still leaning towards MSI but it appears the Asus A8V Rev.2 should be the way to go..

Anyone with an msi board having these problems or is it just selected few?

I'm going to open a tread on MSI

yeah most of the, I dont have power problems like alot of people though
just the PS2 and agp fastwrites prob. I dare not update to XP SP2 because of the problems ive heard.

we are being starved of bios updates lately also..

Otherwise the board is pretty stable, though not as amazing as the reviews made out.

Waiting for the Epox 9NDA3+ ! This company has always produced excellent boards.
Since it took them so much time to release this board, I think that they have considered most of the problems that were seen with other boards from companies released before.

Finally got my MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum working and stable. I would recommend this one as a top perfoming board but only if you are willing to spend a lot of time configuring it.

Abit AV8 is underrated, its probably more stable than MSI and comparable to the Asus.
Problem is it lacks extra IDE/SATA interfaces which oher boards including the cheaper
Soltek has.

However , ABIT outperforms the others in its OC functions. Also it is much cheaper .
