The show is alright for reality TV but it definitely feels like there are some competing ideas about how it should work at play. There's a lot of the traditional reality show bullshit but there's actually a glimmer of something good underneath. It would actually be a great show if they'd had the balls to completely abandon a lot things and do something completely new.
I think you may be right in that the show tends to be somewhat of a nerdy gameshow with a bit of a Big Brother asthetic tacked on. I wonder if the reality portion of it is even lamer because the teams really don't mind each other apart from when they're actually competing. You see them regularly having drinks as an entire cast, and no one really cares.
The hosts I think are mostly annoying but being barely on the show it isn't a big deal.
Probably because they ham it up way too much with all the stereotypical nerdiness.
There have been some great challenges like the insanely hard comic book trivia one
I actually guessed almost all of those.

I have this odd knack for guessing trivia correctly. I'd like to think of all those lunches at Hooters where I'd play the trivia game (by myself of course) paid off. I mean... what else is there to do at that place?
I had the in fighting team thing they do in every reality show but I understand it creates drama for them to fill. I'd really prefer to see teams that remained static for longer so they could build more rapport. That's a general reality show complaint.
I wonder if it would have been better if they simply had more cast members, which would give them larger teams.
The worst part so far is that most of the super smart nerds who I would have liked to have seen more of were the first to go.
Hendrick: I would like to challenge myself.
*Hendrick loses.*
Hendrick: Maybe that wasn't such a good idea.
Now we've got the one dude who is a bit of a douche and all the chicks who basically used classic manipulation tactics to move forward...and frankly I doubt the nerd credentials of a couple of them a bit.
Well, you've really only got two chicks that are good at games, one that's good at comics, one that's good at... Sudoku (except not on the show

), and the dude that has a rather vivid imagination.
The Sudoku girl ought to try
Kenken instead. It's Sudoku + Math! :awe:
EDIT:
They need hot chicks on the show. The only thing that puzzles me I always thought that nerd was someone who was smart. It appears that nerd can be used for someone that is obsessed about something like video games. I wouldn't consider someone that knows trivia about comic books smart unless they have knowledge and abilities in other subjects.
I've always considered a nerd to be someone who's obsessed with a certain subject or topic. Essentially, a Trekkie is a Star Trek nerd.
