Can We Talk About Impeachment?

The United States of America was once a land of laws and not of men. Obama and the Democratic Party have changed all that, possibly forever. Millions of people, along with a few brave politicians, are now openly speaking of impeachment. Why? Because the Obama administration's wanton and destructive disregard for the laws of the land have become so egregious that it can no longer be tolerated.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-1...-canceled.html And here I though that congress writes the laws, and the president enforces them. Summary -If you got canceled you don't need insurance - If you got canceled because of Obamacare you can now buy that terrible 'catastrophic coverage insurance'
no, if there is an executive then the executive makes the laws too. in other words, obama is the 43rd person to be King on America.

Can We Talk About Impeachment?
dude, they wouldnt replace obama with anyone less fucky; the replacement would probably be even more shitty.

and the constitution couldnt even follow the rule of law because it went into effect through force and fraud.

please understand the Constitution.

1) your wrong. Laws are supposed to be written in congress
2) the extent of obama essentially rewriting laws as he see's fit is far beyond just using discretion in enforcement.

the executive can do whatever he wants to, unless he gets disabled or 2/3 or more of Congress opposes him... the constitution doesnt place any limits on the executive. any time you have a head of State, you have a king... it is what is wrong with all modern constitutions and it is no different from monarchy in practice.

They finally figured out that delaying the mandate will help them in November.

Awesome post.

The fact is that my catastrophic plan was cancelled because it was crap but now I can have a craptastic plan back because the ACA roll out is a d-, at best.

Are you people this stupid? How many times has this been communicated to you?

1.) This is an expansion of the hardship exemption, not a rewriting of the law. Hardship exemptions are determined by the HHS secretary, and this is totally within their legal authority to do. If you don't like that it's fine, but the idea that Obama is rewriting the law is... well.. false.

2.) The reason for not giving into the Republicans on the government shutdown was always one thing and one thing alone: you don't give in to hostage taking. It didn't matter if it was about the ACA, about taxes, about spending, about anything. Did you guys forget about how the Republicans tried to move away from the ACA and talk about spending cuts instead and that was ignored as well?

Repeat after me: the debt ceiling/government shutdown was about not giving in to hostage taking. Nothing else.

3.) This appears to affect approximately 500,000 people as of best estimates. Delay of the individual mandate? Hardly.

You guys really do fall for anything, don't you.

Not quite. Turns out Congress enjoys jumping on them for lying. There are a couple of recent examples...

Beyond that, if there were an effective Congress made of individuals representing their districts and state legislatures, they would form an effective check on executive power through their control of the budget process in the House and executive confirmation in the Senate. What we currently have is a cabal of faux-partisan actors who are well paid by the oligarchs of Wall St and the MIC to make us think we have a choice.

Kindly point out where I questioned Obama's authority to remove the individual mandate?

Sure you do. And in fact YOU have clearly supported giving into hostage taking in the past. Remember the whole WIC thread?

So delaying the individual mandate is not delaying the individual mandate. You could be a speech writer for Obama :D

the president can effectively start wars and he can call all the troops home. he runs the agencies and can choose whether to enforce congress's wishes which is similar to making laws. he can decide how federal money will be spent because he can keep vetoing spending bills or budgets until he gets what he wants unless there is a 2/3 or greater majority opposition.

no need to get so impatient with people when you're the one who sees things only in black and white.
