Kindle question

Ya, I could probably read/wade through the Kindle page...

Can you connect to the Internet on a Kindle?

I have been thinking about buying one.
I have also been looking at real estate lately. I sometimes stumble upon a place and look it up on my phone. It would be nicer to use something tablet sized but I am not looking for a tablet at the moment.
I can use my phone (rooted Evo) as a hot spot for signal if needed.

Yes, it has a browser - its not the best thing in the world...the rendering isn't perfect, its black and white, it doesn't refresh very fast making scrolling laborious - but it does work. I've used my Kindle to check email on the go when my phone was dead/dying.

It's pretty painful...

Score a nook color and tether it to your phone, look at some you tube videos, the Kindle is pretty painful to use as an internet device.

Its a pain, its flaky, its slow and awkward.

Its like a device straight out of the 80's
But it can do it. And its a superb book reader.

Amazon will be replacing the kindle 3 very shortly I think. Its on for a year old and due an update, along with an amazon android tablet.

If you want an ebook reader with the ability to infrequently check the odd web page its fine.

Much better than a tablet or lcd screen.

Meh... I'd get a Nook Color or other tab and just tether. The browsers on the e-ink devices exist but are awful.
