Question Kindle Fire HD 10 11th gen and memory cards?

Hey folks picked up one of these tablets and just tried adding a memory card. The specs says is takes up to a 2TB however for some reason the device wont read any card I have. I have tried 4 of them so far (most are class 10 storage size varies). All work in other devices (other tablets, phones, cameras, pcs). I went to amazon and it turns out a lot of owners of the newer models ran into this. CustServ advice is to 'turn on/turn off, reboot, factory reset.' Those options do not work. Even folks who tried the memory card that the kindle itself recommends via linking to an amazon product page run into this. At best most folks end up with 'format 20%' where it stops.

I figured I'd try here since amazon doesn't have a fix.
Has anyone figured out a workaround?

Thanks!

My grandmother got a SD card around 500gb and it won't work in her fire. I've gotten it to work for a bit by reformatting it on my laptop, but alas it stopped working last week :/
