Actions like this from school administrators always reminds me of the type of person who has little to nothing to do all day, so they overreact on the most minor things that do come to their attention.

Damn, that kid is gonna be messed up for good, afraid to say anything in fear of offending anyone. Now, she truly does need psychiatric care.

Her "Assault Bubble Gun" was clearly a dangerous weapon.

First Hello Kitty Bubble guns then Hello Kitty AR-15s

Nipped that in the bud.

"Bifurcating" kids based on some kind of IQ test at age 12 is stupid and really amounts to a kind of segregation.

You can simply allow the children to choose as well. That's what we do in Ontario high schools. There are two tracks starting in grade 9 (advanced and applied), and in grade 11 the advanced track splits into university prep and college prep.

Students and parents make the choice.

This is what happens when you allow public unions infestations to grow and spread like the cancers they are. More and more "administrators" and bureaucrats. They have more frickin administrators than teachers now. It is unfathomable how much money they waste. It would be inexcusable even if they actually got results. But they deliver no results. Quite the contrary.

They are like a bunch of little soviet unions, searching desperately for their very own little afghanistans to finally undo them.

Ficker said the kindergartner mentioned she was going to shoot one of her friends and then herself with the bubble gun so that they could all be together. Then, she was going to shoot herself again when she got home.

That actually is disturbing.

Taken in a certain way, sure. But remember, the school is going into damage control mode. And they're getting their info from whoever overheard it. Basically not much they say can be accepted as accurate at this point, just propoganda.

If you believe anything a liberal/progressive tells you without verifying it, then you deserve to be lied to and misinformed, it's what they do.

Well, obviously, Yes. But I'm talking about the statements from the District. Granted, chances are good that they're of the same political leaning, however what Districts are most concerned about are the Districts themselves (not in the collective, the singular). Basically they're operating in CYA mode based on info from who knows who. Everything they say should be taken with a huge helping of salt.

Is it any wonder that our "progressive" educational system is rapidly declining from world prominence?

it is has never been declining. It is about where it always has been, when compared to accepted world-wide metrics for measuring education. Many of these are memory/concept dependent metrics.

The USA has a history of molding creative problem solvers, critical thinkers, and leaders. I'd rather that than "higher ranking" models that simply create cubical monkeys. (all of Asia).

The only system that we should envy, really, are the Scandinavian models.

Yeah, after three hours of interrogating a 5 year old they managed to get something out of her and rephrase it in their own words in a desperate attempt to come up with enough to justify them freaking out.

That IS disturbing.

I can get a 5 year old to say that they're a terrorist and want to rule the world. Doesn't make it so.
