kinda' OT - How do I connect PC to Home Theater to play MP3's??

I have seen a couple products like THIS and THIS, but isn't there something in between?

I don't want the computer to have to play the file, I just am looking for a device to play MP3 files that are stored on a computer.

I thought I heard of someone making a stereo component that was basically a file browser interface that would play MP3 files off a networked computer via ethernet link; but I can't find any info.

I appriciate any help.

something like the audiotron?

I just bought a cheap (compared to audiotron) computer from compgeeks.com, put a sound card in it, and put linux on it, set up samba shares off my desktop, put it near my stereo with an ethernet connection and digital audio out. Total cost was about 170 and it doubles as many other things in the offtime. If I really got motivated one day, I might even set it up to be remote controllable, but I have not been so motivated.
