I know this is kinda O/T for O/T, and it's probally been a long day for everyone, but I went out for a bike ride, and noticed it was eerily quiet out tonight, at least where I am (Newport, RI). Anyone else go outside (in a usually busy area) where they are and notice this??
I think, actually i'm sure, a lot of it has to do with no planes being in the sky, or any boats being on the water. There's no boating ban, or anything like that, but there is a Navy Base here. I mean nothing, not even a boat horn, or Cars, nothing! There's always some kinda noise, or boat horn, car horn, or airplane flying overhead going on here, but really nothing.
It's seriously eerily quiet, like after a big storm, or something. I had to go out for a bike ride to the local Video Casino just to hear some kind of Constant sound.
I guess you never realize how busy the skies, and things around you sound, 'till there's nothing there!

</pointless rant>
and no I'm not Neffing, just found it odd, and creepy.

Yea glued to the TV since 10:30 AM, I left work at 10AM case the schools let out my kids early. I havent been outside. I just cant believe how many people died in this horrid act. Americans will demand justice, I just hope we dont go overboard. I wonder how frightned all the Arabs who are in our country and innocent of an affiliation with the feelings of people like Bin laden feel tonight. Yet with the secrecy of these terrorist groups, how can we ever trust these people...

I was thinking the same thing beandog, I hope, and i'm sure that we will not react too swiftly, i mean not point the blame at the wrong person(s), in a rush decision, just to make people happy. I'm pretty sure we won't, and I have a lot of confidence that we'll get 'em! I also hope that Citizens who are Arabs, and other people who Immigrated here from the Middle East aren't trampled upon for being here. You know how some Americans can be!
This is just insane though. The sad part is, some friends of mine and I were having the discussion yesterday of when we thought it (a large foreign terrorist attack on US soil) was going to happen, and I feel really bad about saying "sooner than later". We all did agree that we would see it in our lifetimes, or within the next 20 years. Don't flame me for saying it. I really didn't think it would be on such a large scale, or an even larger attempted scale. It actually started out with a discussion about Kamikaze Pilots in WW2.
It's just unbelievable, i'm almost heartbroken that we were discussing something like this yesterday, and it happens today. Everyone i'm sure has discussions like this, but right before it happens??

C'mon Jonnie, Newport's fun to ride a bike in. Cobblestone streets, Lots of Pot Holes (which u can't see at night), Invisible Curbs, Swerving around drunken tourists in the streest, and You can even ride 3 miles to the local wanna-be casino/Jai-Li (Video Slots, Jai-Li, and Horse Races), and blow your hard earned money!! Just like I did tonight!! It got my mind off things, and I won $300! Could buy a new bike.
