I have new pentium 4 1.4 Ghz system, the best it seems to want to go is 1380 mhz on 2 benchmark programs ( Sandra & wintune).

Should I be expecting 1400 Mhz or better ?,

I can still send this expensive system back for a refund or replacment.

thanks for any info you can give me

Well, the front side bus probably fluctuates, but 20 mhz seems like a too much to explain away like that. Have you messed with overclocking it or is it an OEM system?

edit: get wcpuid

Thanks for the reply.
Its a new OEM system , just set up on 3/03/01.

I have been reading some feed back, and it seems Dell is having a lot of returns on these pentium 4 systems

20 mhz is well within 2 percent of actual, and all kinds of factors could be attributing to measured speed when using benchmark programs. Benchmarks may not be set up to optimize features of Pentium 4 or you could just have a slightly slower system than what it should be. Or 1.4 might be rounded way of saying 1.380 cuz it doesn't advertize 1.40. Like the athlon advertises 1.13 etc. Anyway good luck with new system and enjoy the massive speed and stop fretting over 20 mhz and start figuring out how to overclock it. HEHE
