Kinda neat photo I found from 1982. Family history oriented

My brother and I just got done remodeling our office at work and buried at the bottom of a filing cabinet under stacks of paper was an envelop filled with old photos dating from 1982-2005. This one was the oldest one and IMO one of the neatest. On the back it has an official Kodak stamp dated August 1982.

A little background to give some context. My parents purchased Lacon Greenhouse in 1981 and it was their first business venture. We believe that this was the day that the sign was installed hence why the photo was taken.
The man on the far left is my grandfather he was 53 in the picture and is now 92 years old, the man in the middle is my father he was 30 at the time and is now 69 years old, and the woman was my grandmother she was 50 when the picture was taken but we lost her to cancer around 15 years ago.

So anyone else got any neat family photos like this hanging around that were lost to time?

my grandparents have a ton of old pictures that i want to see someday

but they're in their old house which is so decrepit, it might fall down on me if i go inside

Wow that's really cool. I don't have anything myself but my parents have a lot of albums. One of the good things of the old days where everything got printed. I feel with everything just going on Facebook or other social media now days we are going to lose a lot of history. Not everyone bothers to back up that stuff and figure if they put it on FB it will just be there forever.

Even with TV, ever since VHS is out, there is no easy way to archive any TV shows, or news etc. PVRs are just black boxes you have no real control over and belong to your cable company so not like you can go back to say, news about covid-19, in 20 years from now.

Someone spelled Bacon wrong.
Bacon Greenhouse?? Just doesn't have the same ring to imo but I could be biased; after all I did grow up there. Also it feels weird to me considering bacon is an animal product and greenhouses are where plants are born.

I have issues with this restoration. too much pop from the people--the sharp line/contrast from the background. It's like a bad HD transfer from some poor Blu Rays.

The flowers are crushed, flat, and all the detail is gone. It's like they were colored over with a crayon.

Where is Ted Turner?

Well the AI is working on what picture it's uploaded with. Probably not even the real faces of the subjects. 😉

This is really neat! Thank you for doing this.

I scanned my Dad's WWII albums many years ago. Most of them were actually enlarged and printed in the field with a cardboard box setup he made. He didn't fly Typhoons, Dad flew C47 but this kid flying it was just an 18 year old farm kid from Saskatchewan. Time between takeoff and return for re-arm was about 8 minutes he said (tank busting). Both he and dad went from riding a horse to school to flying planes in the war in a matter of months. Dad volunteered in June 1941 and was overseas until May 1946.

I think the picture below was either D-day or Market Garden.

that's the same way I snagged banners, but not at 90 🙂

My neighbor flew two missions in the gliders and was the guy who gave me my first airplane rides.

My first and only glider ride was with a pilot who escaped Nazi occupied Poland as a teenager by stealing a German plane and crash landing it in England. Pretty good for his first time in a plane.

It'd be a good thing to start happening in fascist occupied russia today.

The more I think about this, the worse it gets. One sibling thinks it’s cool as heck to animate dead mom’s pic and sends it to the other kids. The other kids lose their shit and an epic family engagement ensues.
As well as the whole "no longer trust anything you see" problem. I think this is frighteningly well done for consumer software.
