I waited way too long to buy a ticket home for Christmas... I can't afford paying the $400+ it would cost (accomodating my work schedule), so I bought a ticket home in January for $200 instead.

Which means... I'll be alone, family-less, in Los Angeles for Christmas. I'm feeling kinda down about it... any suggestions on what I should do? Maybe I'll go to Vegas (and NOT gamble). *sigh*

Has anyone ever been alone on a holiday? What have you done? I see myself at home in my pj's, watching "Finding Nemo" and eating a frozen dinner...

There's always your b/f, or you could appeal to ATOT and have a whole bunch of horny guys over.. ;)

I have been away from my family since 1/03. I am not going to see them until 1/04 since I'm at college. I've found that you can make a family with the people you love. My friends have become my family away from my family, so to speak. I've been lucky enough to spend time with the families of my friends for the past year (4 years actually, but this year the most). Not only does it make me appreciate what family is, but it also makes me appreciate my friends even more for inviting me to spend time with their family. Maybe you could do something similar? If you cannot, there is always volunteering at a homeless shelter. There is nothing like spreading the love to make you feel all warm inside.

That's a great idea... Ameesh suggested soup kitchen earlier, and I think I'll start looking around for opportunities to do so. If I can't experience "warm fuzzy feeling with the family", I'd like to experience "warm fuzzy feeling helping out others on Christmas". Maybe it won't be so bad after all.

Thank you for sharing, xyion... my goodness, that's a long time away from home. I spent Thanksgiving with my friends Kat and Ai, which was a wonderful experience. Still, I miss my parents and little sisters. I think I'm definitely going to do the volunteering thing... if any other ATOT-ers in LA are in a similar predicament, maybe we can go volunteer together. :)

Just make sure you wear the hair net! LoL

Isn't it always funny that we touch, kiss and smell hair when it's on another persons head (maybe significant other, maybe a stranger if your a weirdo). However, when it leaves their head it becomes this bacteria infested item? That was a Seinfeld flashback I think.

Don't get me wrong, I miss my family, but sometimes you have to make do with what you have. I'm grateful for the gracious friends (and their families) for having me over during such private occasions.

However, I must say that I am going to be in Vegas during my Christmas break (not exactly sure on dates), so tell me if you want to hang out or something. ;)

Be sure to call your family and wish them happy holidays. Then curl up and pamper yourself. Or you could volunteer, as others have suggested, to help those less fortunate.

Just stay home and watch the Lord Of The Rings 1, 2 and then go to the movie theatre alone to watch Lord of the Rings 3.
