Give them to Richard Gere.

ok. what am i missing with that?

Supposedly Mr. Gere was taken to the hospital many years ago after a gerbil that had been frozen and inserted into Mr. Gere's posterior had failed to thaw and emerge during love making as was the design.

Urban Myth?

Status of Richard Gere's 'Gerbilectomy' = false.

As for the hamsters, you might be able to find a home for them if you include the cage, water bottle, wheel, food, etc.

Your son is young and even though you are buying the animals for him, they really are your responsibility. My kids pretty much abandoned their pet rats but we still make sure they are taken care of.. like someone mentioned above their life span isn't so long so you won't have to do so for long.

they dont last long, as as long as they have company of other hampsters, i don't think they give a sh*t if humans are involved. just buy them a big ass cage, and treats and trinkets, keep them happy until they die.

wouldnt setting them free be mean? I live in Michigan, its pretty darn cold around here. I would hate to be walking outside with my son and see cici or sheila laying there frozen stiff.
Setting them free would be cruel. They'd either freeze, starve, or be eaten. At the very least they'd be pretty scared. Ask around at pet shops/schools to see if anyone will take them. Barring that you could always put an ad in the paper for them.

Your child is young, but it's not too early to start teaching him the responsibility of caring for and owning a pet. I don't necessarily expect him to take full responsibility for feeding, cleaning etc, but it's something I'd take him aside and show him.

It doesn't sound as if your son is ready for pet ownership if he doesn't take responsibility for the animals in his care.

Try to find them a good home.

Great lesson you're teaching your kid there... when something smaller than you stops being fun, get rid of it.

Yep, that is pretty freaky. Almost as freaky as the number of people who name their cats "kitty". :D

i consider pets that don't recognize their owners and have no bowel control little prisoners. if u get em, they are ur burden, and their cages are their little life long prisons. rather sad..rather pointless pets. ah well.
